One day you’re young and the next you’re spraying your plants for gnats, god bless
  • I have some harmless daddy long leg spiders in corners near my plants and there is a constant pile of dead gnats under them. I saw one grab a gnat this morning, they are so quick!! Love my little spider helpers!! LOL
  • I tried this today on all of my plants. It seems to have worked within hours. Those gnats have been driving me nuts for weeks. They literally fly up my nose when I'm sitting on my couch because I have two floating shelves of plants above my couch. I did take the one plant outside that looked the most infested and dumped the dirt, washed out the pot with hot soapy water and replanted the plant. I gave all my plants a treatment with the peroxide and water. Thanks for this video. I'm hoping within the next week I'll be completely rid of those gnats/buggers!

An inch layer of sand works well, and also looks good. The sand dries out quickly and the adults can't dig into it to lay eggs in the damp soil beneath it, and any current baby gnats can't get up through it. Just another tip.

I love how systematic you are about murdering, trapping and destroying these guys. The lemon scented soap is a great touch.
  • @VeronicaMist
Those “Sticky Sticks” also help. They catch hundreds of them before they leave the pot.

finally some good advice 4 this issue!! the steel wool one sounds GENIUS. I used a peroxide 50 50 mix with water and flushed my 2 aglaonemas. I let them completelyyyy dry out for about 2 weeks. Now i water moderately and let the 1st two inches of soil dry out before I water again and that has worked so far and its been about a month no gnats :)

  • I just brought a Peace Lily home and now all my plants have these pesky little critters flying around them as well 😤 I knew I saved this video for a reason when I started my plant journey several months ago... Thank you Julie 💚

  • @cherylapicella
Yeeees!! They are the bane of my existence and driving me nuts!! I'm always too afraid to let my basil dry out completely though, but I'm definitely going to try that steel wool and rocks tip! Hopefully that'll also prevent my dog from trying to eat the soil after I fertilize it with fish emulsion too lol
  • @marriselv4784
You are a God send! I was trying to figure why I had them and now I know what to do. Thank you!!
  • Awesome - the steelwool & the rocks!!! Yes!! I have the biting gnats on my porch - I'm using this method in the Spring so I can enjoy my porch again. Also for my indoor plants because we do have gnats in the house.
  • @daveallen63
