It’s time we learn the difference between Race, Ethnicity, and Nationality
  • Girl you just dont like Cardi. If someone call me a nationality that I am not. I will check you, whats wrong with that. Its doesnt mean you better. You just that

5:27 “it’s not an insult to be called a Mexican, there’s nothing wrong with that, just correct them”??!!! What?!!! Would you feel the same way if someone just called you just an African, Empressive? I just respectfully call any Hispanic in the Hispanic community an Hispanic. I don’t call any Asian person Chinese because there’s multiple ethnicities within the Asian community.
  • @galks787
I kinda disagree with Empressive here. Nobody wants to be called what they’re not! That’s rude and disrespectful. If you’re not Mexican why would you like anyone calling you that, especially when they’re doing it out of spite
  • @hughw2377
It's rude and ignorant to assume where someone is from based on their colour/features. Not every black person is from Jamaica, not every Asian person is from China and not every Latino is Mexican, so don't do it!

Huh? Cardi definitely was treated badly in the beginning of her career calling her illiterate, ghetto, ratchet etc…? Why are we acting like we forgot.
  • Ice spice should’ve just sent those pics directly to Cardi dm since that’s what cardi asked her to do. Posting them was wild
  • @fah232
People that reap the benefits of colorism will not think it's happening because they don't feel the negative affects.
  • @babyj910.
In the Hispanic community it is disrespectful to be called different than what you are. They will correct you real quick.

There's a LONG standing history of non-Black people monetizing a characature of what closed minded , mainstream "thinks" is Black behavior/demeanor. It's modern day minstrel shows.
  • Empressive is quite biased when it comes to Cardi. She strategically skipped all Cardi’s replies to the Ray guy and went into the mess. Refused to talk about how “it is her hit song” that opened all these doors for her. Also, She sounds just like a barb, plus, this was a perfect opportunity to call that fanbase mentally ill for going insane over a picture

Girl as a latino i can say to you that being called a mexican is used as an insult, thats why cardi felt offended, its not offensive to be mexican, but when u use that word to shit on latinos, it becomes an insult
  • @bonkezozi9310
So now these female upcoming celebrities are expected to choose sides right out the gate??? DAMN!!!
  • @siabia7246
When Cardi came into the bizz, she was already a loved TV personality tryna build her career as a rapper. And when she debut, she came with a banger.. she went viral.. Not because she's Hispanic, ghetto, but people loved her personality and her music was a hit. Plain and simple.

Calling her Mexican is an insult to Latino ppl who are not from Mexico. it’s like calling all Asians Chinese (which ppl do all the time). It’s sort of raciest/stereotypical. I would feel like he was insulting me if he told me that even if I was Mexican. I think cardi meant she “likes to date ppl of a different culture or nationality” because she mentioned black Americans (they have a different culture than Dominicans) and Jamaican men and they also have a different culture. So when she said “race” I think she meant nationality and skin complexion. When it comes to Afro Latinos and Latinos in general I think a lot of African Americans get confused with race, culture, ethnicity, and nationality. You can be Afro and dominicana at the same time. So her mother very well could be Afro Latina there for making Cardi B Afro Latina. So yeah she is black but she isn’t African American. So you can argue from a stand point of her partaking in African American (culture AKA rap/hiphop music) but she is “black” if she is Afro Latino she just wouldn’t be ADOS.
  • @swithunis
Calling her Mexican is taking her culture away.
  • I think Cardi confused because being a Trini don't mean you are black. Trinidad is so diverse. Trini is a nationality not a race .
  • @zidanwilkin996
For you to say that cardi b and sexy red are the same is disrespectful to CARDI
  • @tatyannacorinne
I will say, as a mixed Puerto Rican woman, being called Mexican is incredibly offensive. It’s like a slap to the face. Me personally, I give benefit of the doubt and correct individuals that do misidentify, but if it has to be address more than once, then it’s a major problem. I’m not saying anyone is right or wrong. I just wouldn’t down play what Cardi just told us.
