This is why this got an Oscar. Nothing is like this anymore. Nostalgia...

That scene where Taraji is first singing the chorus makes me cry every time. She’s so unbelievably good in this film

Shug asking "did I fuck up?" was everything
  • Taraji looked so shocked when she heard herself singing. Like she never thought she could do more than be on the streets that shit is sad yet such great acting
  • Taraji's amazement when listening to her voice singing always strikes me. This is self-actualization, coming to understand that there is more to you than just meet the eyes...priceless!

Terrence killed it in this movie. Remember watching this for the first time and i was in awe of his performance for days.
  • How she makes me believe the rolls she plays are real actual people even though I know it’s her gets me every film. Love the art you put into this world Taraji.

There is so much psychology to this scene that just hits you in the feels. This is artistry at its finest.

This scene shows real feelings of desperation. I felt it.
  • I remember watching this movie as a kid but didn’t fully appreciate it until I was in my teens. Still get teary eyed when this scene comes on. If you’ve lived through it, you know what it is.

Everybody in this movie acted their asses off. Every character had layers and layers. Like these were real people. You could feel it.

When I watch this movie, I'm literally drawn into it. That, "hush, Nola" gets me every time! Excellent classic!!!
