THINGS GO PEAR-SHAPED IN DUBLIN ! My first timetable challenge failure, but not as expected.

Published 2024-08-11
Trains, ferries and buses. The itinerary could be done under 24 hours - 23hr 55min to be exact - and I thought I'd researched every possible problem that I could encounter. I missed one, and as a result I came a cropper!

Ok, seeing bloke running, filming, and talking to the camera at once definitely deserves the like😂😂
  • @chrisyoung3380
Trust me! Beautiful and Warrington bank quay don't belong in the same sentence! 🤣

I have an idea: Do a timetable challenge in Switzerland with 10-15 changes of 5 minutes or less each. TBH, I can't see what could possibly go wrong but I suppose you never know 😉
  • @gazzythomas
I would have pre-booked a taxi at the port too

Long time sub. For whatever it's worth, these are your best vids by far. Massive thumbs up. 👍

Good to see the old style railway poster at Chester, I love seeing them

When you were in Dublin at Custom House Quay, the train station was 2 mins away to get to Belfast, then ferry to Cairnryan.

I would have stayed in Dublin for a day or three and sampled a few glasses of porter.....
  • @ciaramc29
You probably needed to be outside the Custom House Building, the Quay starts there and goes to the CHQ. But you had figured that out before anyone has a go at me again!

I've really been enjoying your adventures traveling on the trains and walking the countryside take care and have an awesome week until next time thank you.☕👋🇬🇧

What a journey. Cant help thinking you need a folding bike with you on some of these trips Scott.

Hard luck mate! I always find disembarkation from ferries a very slow process, so when you mentioned you had 55 mins I thought 'oh oh'. Although you still made it, I'd have been a lot happier to arrive in time to find the right stop, although that would have screwed up the whole idea of the challenge I guess! So good on you for giving it a go. And hey, you were on the right (left!) side of the plane for the flight back, some fantastic views out your window :) Cheers, these timetable challenges are some of my favourites! EDIT: meant to also say - your ability to go without sleep is seriously impressive.

Ahhh.. those pesky bag ladies that come from somewhere, and cause absolute carnage. Noooooo! 😅

3:00 I used to live near Runcorn East, so I'm very familiar with that 7-minute connection. It worked every time I wasn't doing it and just standing on the platform, and didn't work pretty much half the times I was. And that was with Virgin, not Avanti.
  • great video Scott. Sorry it was a fail but there's always next time! hehe xxx
