  • Important rule changes for high school wrestling starting in 2024: 1. Takedowns - Takedowns are now worth 3 points instead of 2. 2. Backpoints - It used to be 2 seconds for 2 points and 5 seconds for 3 points. It has changed to 2 seconds for 2 points and 4 seconds for 4 points. 3. Out of bounds - If either wrestler has a point of contact inside the circle, they are considered in bounds. These rules will probably be adopted by youth wrestling as well. What if I pull out a chair and hit my opponent. Would that be a disqualification??????
  • I just started yesterday, my first match is in 6 days. I don't even know what the objective is.

I like to see everyone in the comments considering doing wrestling. I have been doing wrestling for about 4 years now, freshman year of high. A couple of things you may want to take into consideration. Wrestling is a different beast. They will straight up say “this isn’t non of that fake stuff you see on TV 📺”. This is the real deal and you’ll definitely notice overtime. Now depending on your coach, wrestling is one HELL of a workout. It’s main goal before and typically after your main day of learning new moves, practicing them, and possibly a couple of wrestle offs,is a workout, and what they consider a “cool down”. Every coach is different, but for about 20 mins in,you’ll do running, maybe a couple of things, then in between somewhere you’ll do your stretches, then group around your coach for the lesson/moves for the day. Now once that’s said and done, well for me,we have a about 30 mins or an hour worth of intense body movement. Jump rope,weights,etc-etc for about an hour or 30 mins. All in all wrestling is something very intense that needs to be taking very serious. It gets your body extremely bulky/fit,your mental health is supported, you’ll sleep better, all pros it sounds right ? Well the con is the workout it’s self. Most people just can’t handle what the coaches make you do,so they just give up,but if your seriously dedicated, pay attention, and preform your best, then you’ll love the sport. It’ll give you like an adrenaline, rush in your veins, you’ll be pushing yourself in your final moments that hurt will be bothering you more than the fact it’s almost over with whatever it might be that your doing. Like I said wrestling is a different type of beast, but if,as with any sport, your consistent, adequate, progressive, and bring for thus a strong spirit, you’ll thrive and really think your going through hell while at practice, but in the end it’ll be worth it,and all those women that slept on you now, might be second guessing who they want/have heart eyes for now 😉
  • I started wrestling in my junior year of high school. I still consider it to be the best thing I ever did for myself. When I was trying to convince my parents to let me wrestle, I sent them this video.

This video was very helpful because I'm a freshman about to start wrestling but I've done 5 years of Brazilian jujitsu and I needed to understand the rules and how to win
  • I started wrestling my sophmore year and had my first match after just 4 days of practice lol. It was a GMAC and I lost because of my Jiu Jitsu background as I was dominating the guy, but I just couldn't get rid of my jiu jitsu habits like clasping my hands or being on my back.I honestly gave the guy the match lmao. What sucks is that he beat me on the points I gave him.

Thanks guys! Our 7yr old son just started wrestling last month, and with the help of your video, he won his first match via pin! His opponent was even 12lbs heavier since they didn't have a big turn-out, due to the rona. 🙏💪💙
