If I decided to foster, every single animal would be a foster fail. I'm just not strong enough to say goodbye...

It broke my heart to see him against the wall like that 😢😭
  • @sinetheawhy
Goodness, he was so traumatized. His first owner must have died or had to leave abruptly after loving him very much. Grateful he got his 2nd chance at a happy life. Gorgeous cat!

I've worked with many cats and have never seen this level of "shut down" before. Usually there's some hissing and growling involved if they don't want to associate with you. This cat must have been so very depressed... I'm glad this lovely woman spent her time with Jovi.

When your spirit is so broken that you just want to hide from the world. I know buddy....😔

I feel like someone really hurt him once like he was happy and they gave him up. Thank you people for what you do, y’all are saints in my book.

Human: "Can I brush my teeth?" Cat: "Only after I give this sink a thorough inspection."

How he was hiding his face is absolutely heartbreaking!

Love and patience. A winning combination in a pet parent.

Omar, you be good to Jovi. Ya hear me?
  • Anyone who believes that animals can't feel pain or sadness or go through trauma should watch this video. Pets miss us, they mourn us, they experience and exhibit more human emotions than sometimes even humans do. I'm so glad Jovi healed and found a good forever home. God bless the animals - especially our fur-baby pets! God bless everyone!

When a cat is profoundly depressed in this way but understands love in a home, they’ve usually had a loving home and somehow lost it. When they’re terrified, that’s usually a sign of abuse. In both cases, this foster mom knew what was needed: love and patience ❤️

We had a stray show up during one of the coldest winters in WI. We made her an enclosure on the porch, but I came home one day to find the boys had let her in the house and the rest is history. Porch is the best cat we have ever had.

If people would be kinder to animals (and other people), this world would be a wonderful place.

I often wonder how fostered animals form a bond and are then “adopted” with people they have never met. Do they feel abandoned again? Can they ever believe their home is permanent?
  • You know Jovi was scared while he was exploring, yet he did it anyway. Now that’s courage.

I have never had words hurt my heart more than 'if a cat could cry'. I broke down when I heard that.

This broke my heart as Jovi's behaviour reminded me of my Katy. My friend had been approached by Katy several times in his front garden. She had obviously been abandoned during a snowy period, as well as abused. I agreed to take her in as I was already offering end of life care to several animals, and, to be honest I felt that she would probably only last hours. I had to give her a shower, she was so dirty that the first water flowing off her was black. She obviously loved being warm, and after drying she took herself to my bed, curled on a blanket close to the radiator and slept for the next 48 hours. She didn't even wake when I went to bed. To my surprise she got stronger, but she too hid her face just like Jovi. When I took her to the vet, there was evidence that she had been kicked repeatedly, including her head. The vet was, unfortunately, correct that she had brain damage, and she suffered major mood swings, during one of which I was so badly bitten I needed hospital treatment. I've had her 3 years now. She is gorgeous, sometimes loving, often moody, but then she is a cat after all. She is in charge of the house, and, no matter how much he tries, my Toby is still totally controlled by her, just as I am.

Animals, all of them, are so innocent and pure.
