So Python is one of the most popular programming languages out there with tons of resources, the biggest community of developers in the world and a huge number of job opportunities for those with Python skills…or so it would seem.

You see there is one important detail about Python jobs that people often miss.

And I call it the Python job myth - this myth is something that beginner Python developers are very easily deceived by and unless you are aware of it and how to tackle it, it could mean you can actually not land any job after all your hard work of learning Python.

So what am I talking about, what is the Python job myth, how does it relate to us especially in the broken 2024 job market and most importantly, is Python actually still worth learning as your first programming language?

You can also break into industry as a dev ops engineer.

There aren't enough "pure" python jobs. Python is a great 2nd or 3rd language.

This video is very good but the content especially at the beginning is confusing. You sounded like you wanted to recommend a better language than python. All what you criticized python for, apply to all other languages like you said with swift but the way you unpacked it, it was like python is really bad. Going forward you then sounded like you are encouraging people to add more skills to their python abilities which was then very correct. Generally knowing one thing in tech setup does not give one an upper hand. Finally, the message that one gets is to add more skills "especially if they watch the video to the end"
  • I really like your videos because you encourage us. Thank you so much. You are a mentor.
  • I have developed an application that allows listening to internet radio using the Python-VLC module. How could I sell it?
  • Obviously Python is just a programming language and an interpreter. That's far from enough to be productive. Python is to IT what naming a tomato is to maintaining a michelin restaurant. People try the easiest way towards big salaries. The truth is that it only grows ego, drives inflation and makes finding the real passionated about tech harder to find. But at the end the ones that work less and earn more, well deservedly, know from A to Z how a computer and networking works. This you learn after decades of dedication. But hey, try with your python and js wamnabe skills. You'll fool useless HHRR tbh.
  • Ummm... knowing a glue language is a supplement to general or specialized technology skills, noob. It's always been this way since before the days of PERL.
