Ten years have passed since a solar flare destroyed the ozone layer, turning the planet Earth into a largely-uninhabitable wasteland ravaged by extreme weather events while being scorched by the sun's ultraviolet rays, increasing temperatures to 150 degrees Fahrenheit (70 degrees Celsius).

  • This is one of the movies where the dog doesn't die but it's way sadder the fact the human died, truly a unique movie

God I'm so happy this didn't turn out to be "robot is evil" story, made it 10000% better and even just hearing this recap made me tear up
  • The ozone layer part actually could be explained with science. A solar flare could cause holes in the ozone layer but leave parts of it intact still. Areas that receive more sun exposure would have more damage to the ozone layer (causing it to disappear in spots) and those that are more equidistant would have less damage. The ozone layer can also heal. Solar flares don't continue on forever either. Most likely once the sun settled down parts of the ozone layer healed up in areas with less damage.

Finch is probably one of the most wholesome movies I have seen because of this recap, and Jeff is the real MVP

"I'm no scientist but this seems like bullsh!t" LOL I love his commentary

After his years of dedication to FedEx, he was finally able to bring Wilson into a sentient form

I haven't watched the movie yet but just from this video, it's clear Dewey might not have played a huge role, but I honestly felt bad for the robot when it got crushed by the bear trap. I hope Jeff and Good Year live happy lives and may Finch rest in peace!

coming back to the early days of Mystery Reccapes really is something else. Feels like nostalgia even though it has only been 6 months
  • The ending is sad and heartbreaking but at the same time hopeful and heartwarming.. Finch's primal goal of having someone take care of goodyear was actually fulfilled.. Jeff is such an wholesome and kindhearted robot...
  • @breeze_j
I watched this yesterday. The progression of Jeff becoming slowly more human like and adapting (like finch wanted to see) was amazing. I want to know how they had Jeff interact with Goodyear. One of the best movies I’ve seen in a while
  • Such a touching story, I'll have to watch the real movie, also, I like how Mystery Recapped can explain and describe a movie in such a short period while still giving the facts and important parts of the story.
  • @petraleong
I'm already tearing up from this recap. I would cry a river watching this movie
  • @kickasspeanuts
"Jeff is visibly upset" Jeff: forces oil or some shit out of his eyes
  • The part about the radiation disappearing isn't complete BS. He mentioned earlier that the ozone was pock marked with holes like cheese, so he was likely under an area still intact. Also, tuberculosis? He was reading up on all kinds of books about radiation poisoning, and there's literally high amounts of radiation everywhere...

Good movie and as usual Hanks work as a person in an untenable situation separated from other humans is a good gut punch. Dewey was basically Wilson 2.0 and Jeff wound up being Wilson 3.0 lol.
  • @oldgymsock
Jeff is making me cry by how wholesome he is-
  • @ny3683syr
Once again Hanks hits it out of the park. I'd never even heard of this movie, and happened on it while channel surfing one day. It's very moving, and Hanks really delivered the goods. I'd like to see it in its entirety again.
