How Bricks Are Made

Bricks are often made of a lightweight rock called shale. It's ground up into a thick paste that is pressed into the standard brick shape. Then the bricks are cooked in a giant oven at 1,040 degrees Celsius. That's almost 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit!
