Stuff we use:
CAMERA - This is the camera we have used to film 90+% of our interviews (over 200 interviews and counting) It continues to be our workhorse - amzn.to/2u66V1J

LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq

AUDIO

Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/2t1n2hx

Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/2tbFlM9

LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv

COMPUTER - Our favorite computer, we each have one and have used various models since 2010 - amzn.to/2t1M67Z

EDITING - We upgraded our editing suite this year and we’re glad we did! This has improved our workflow and the quality of our work. Having new software also helps when we have a problem, it’s easy to search and find a solution - goo.gl/56LnpM

I have came to the same conclusion. I am about to quit my job at 44 years old, and start my acting career. I'm scared, but I have to do it.
  • @joshliam1967
Love how he took being told he'd never work in voiceover as a challenge, and then made a career out of doing voiceovers!

I dont know who this interviewer lady is, or what she looks like. but ive seen hundreds of her interviews and she truly wants to help as many people pursue and follow their dreams as possible. Her way of talking and her general curiosity is so pure and i'm so thankful for this channel. I cant wait to be in a position of power and experience where I can go on film courage and inspire people.

I’d like to drink a few beers with this guy and listen to his stories
  • I told myself at 17 that I’d have my own dance therapy business and become an actress and dancer ✨. I’m now acting and dancing and getting my masters in dance therapy. I’m so grateful.

    But truthfully y’all inspire me.

23 years old, I always knew I was destined for something greater than a normal 9-5 life. My cousin is an actress, I always admire her because she was the only one pursuing her dreams, maybe its time to go after mine. You only have one life but ar the same time im scared of failure💢
  • I'm terrified of ending up homeless if I pursue this, but it seems nothing else makes me happy. I'm desperate to find a stable job with stable income, but I don't know if I'll ever find it.
  • I have been ignoring this desire of even trying acting for a while because I thought less of myself basically or thought my life was was not lined up for go after it. After ignoring it I’ve gotten DRAINED of my everyday life.... just going though the motions of working to make ends meet. Literally feeling forced to be happy but in my alone time thinking and imagining how it would be if I could express myself on a theater stage or start the journey to learn this craft. Only enjoying the audience is in my head ( I hope this makes since) listening to his story and experience has lifted me and I feel my zeal coming alive. I going to do this!

For the longest time I’ve wanted to be an actor, it means something. It makes me feel like I’m doing something and for the longest time I wouldn’t accept that I wanted this, but now that I’ve accepted this and am taking classes and have these goals of going to the city to make a name for myself I’m ready. I’m gonna do it. I implore anyone else to do the same, we are artists, we are meant for something. Staying in the same spot isn’t what life means to me.

Listening to this is like coming home. I can’t explain it, but I feel a renewed sense of motivation and hope.
  • I was engaged the whole time. For a while I almost got convinced to quit my teaching job and pursue acting full time but as he kept talking, I realized he was never without a job to survive but what he always did was put his love for acting first. I’m blessed to have a flexible teaching job and I declare here and now that my acting career comes first
  • The things he says here, they are applicable to any walk in life. He followed his vision or calling.
  • The thought of doing anything other than acting as a career just makes me sick, it makes me feel like there’s nothing for me to do. Like sitting in a boring lonely office, working until you die is just, no.

Hearing his story is so moving and inspirational. I’m an aspiring actor and literally quit my job to start pursuing acting. I’ve been on the fence about a lot of stuff such as quitting my job, trying to get out of retail to do something more flexible. Literally was feeling defeated and wanting to give up. Hearing his story and the obstacle that he over cane and faced. And the break up that he dealt with moved me because I’ve realized that as an actor you’re going to have similarities and down falls, rejections, you name it; taking that leap of faith and truly pursing in your dream and allowing life and the universe take the wheel things fall into place. I’m still in my first year and with so much information and knowledge thrown my way it’s a lot to take in but seeing that I’m not alone and I can overcome it is a blessing. Thank you so much for sharing this. 🙏🏾🙏🏾

Thank you for this video it resonated with me. I'm African American and I'm from Chicago and I've always known I wanted to become an actor. there were situations where people(strangers) would tell me at my jobs that either I should be singing because of my voice or doing something on stage because of my personality and humor. the only problem is I haven't found the courage to "just do it." That will change in 2019

you know, interestingly enough i have just impulsively watched a long video on the behind the scenes of a harry potter movie, and i know this is the absolute last thing i should be doing, considering the fact that i have other responsibilities. im 14 so im still in school, and my grades have been slipping. im trying my hardest, yes. but i do find my mind wandering off school more and more. i searched up the words " how do i know if i want to become an actor " because honestly, the idea of being in a movie is incredible. i mean as more of a creative than academic person, i take interst in art, music, and most importantly movies. whenever i see a film i find myself wondering how amazing of an experience it would be to be on the set of that movie. movies combine music, emotion, talent, and make viewers experience all kinds of feels- joy, sorrow, you name it. truth is recently my passion for acting has been growing stronger and stronger and im wondering whether or not this is what im meant to do.

2020 is mine when you’ve watched so many movies and shows and you just know!
