Here's one last song for 2023! I figured I would make something rather simple yet still pleasant to listen to, courtesy of tildearrow's Furnace tracker. I've been meaning to use the chipset of the amazing Sharp X68000 computer, the Yamaha YM2151/OPM and the OKI MSM6258, so I decided to finally use it for this song. The song only uses 7 different instruments: bass and organ FM patches from the X68000 remake of Namco's Bosconian, one of the closed hi-hat FM patches included with Furnace, and samples of a kick drum, a snare drum, and two tom drums. Speaking of which, I'm glad to say that I finally managed to figure out how to get the correct pitch of sound samples in the MSM6258. Since its sample rate is 15625 hertz, and the samples I was using were 44100 hertz, I just had to use Furnace's resampling tool to bring them down to 15625 hertz. I was surprised that there's really no volume control with the MSM6258 (at least from what I tried), so I had to manually lower all the samples I used by 6 dB with Furnace's amplifying tool, which ended up working out perfectly in the end. Despite being fairly simple compared to some of my previous songs, I still quite like how this one turned out. I hope you all enjoy Welcome to the Hangout. ^w^
