I'm so angry how the people around Aaliyah failed to protect her from her involvement with R. Kelly to her tragic death. So sad & infuriating.

I am 40 years old and I loved Aaliyah and her music so much as a teenager. She was a beautiful singer and soul. Such a tragedy. I still think about her ans listen to her music to this day

I was completely devastated when she was killed! I mean I was playing her cd all Saturday night and to wake up that Sunday morning and learn that she was dead I was crushed! She’s still missed! May she rest in peace! ❤

She was murdered! She did not want to fly. She was drugged and put on the plane against her will. At the time of her death, she had long moved on from R Kelly. Aaliyah favors her uncle a lot. Her uncle BROKE my heart 💔 when he started crying. Man I miss Aaliyah so much and I also miss my friend Kenny who died in the crash with Aaliyah. Kenny was a best friend to Aaliyah’s mother and she asked him to go with Aaliyah to the Bahamas. She couldn’t attend and she trusted that Kenny would watch over her. He was happy to do it and the day before they left he was so excited, but he shared with me that his wife begged him not to go because she had a dream that something terrible was going to happen. I wish he had told Aaliyah and they both would probably be alive here in California today. R.I.H.P Aaliyah and Kenny ❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️ BTW, I named my daughter AALIYAH after her beautiful soul.

I don’t trust her family at all. They just seem like money hungry people and never protected Aaliyah.

I have always been suspicious of Aaliyah's family, including her uncle. He seems genuine now and probably has developed a conscience over the years as he has gotten older, especially since his stroke. But I always thought that Aaliyah's image and musical themes were too mature for her age, which none of them seemed to mind at the time. With everything that has emerged, I think her mother in particular encouraged certain behaviours and activities of Aaliyah in exchange for her fame. I understand that the mother also had an inappropriate relationship with R Kelly, and took his publishing in return for not reporting him to the police after what he did to Aaliyah. A decent mother should be more concerned about her daughter's well-being than cash, surely 🤔. It's shocking to learn that Aaliyah's uncle has fallen out with his sister. But this sadly confirms to me that her mother is a questionable character who was always prepared to exploit her daughter. If her family spent more time protecting her rather than capitalising on her talent, she may still be alive today.

Aaliyah’s mother has a lot to answer for. Her not being forthcoming to put the rumours to rest are very telling. I’d say the guilt of the role she played in Aaliyah’s work and personal life strained their relationship. She exposed her to R Kelly and I reckon she was involved with him herself.
