In this video we talk about the progressions I take with my infield work. I do this for most games and is a key part of my defensive success.

I wish we had access to information from GG players and MLB coaches like this when I was a kid. Hopefully the channel keep growing and youth players take advantage of this knowledge getting passed down.

Coach Wash’s fingerprints are all over this routine…what a great teacher!
  • It’s not just the information. I’ve been coaching Baseball for 25 years. The information is great, but it’s more about the coach/player speaking the information in a way that average players can understand. That is the most valuable thing to me.

A magnificent fielder: yes. But the desire to get better through meticulous practice: phenomenal. Love his mindset!

Best infield defender in the game. Miss watching you in the A, Dansby!

Hi Dansby , I’m a big fan of yours, and I was wondering if you could make a video on the mental aspect of the game , and how not to get in your head while playing. I think it could really help a lot of players , especially hearing it from an mlb player. Thanks, go cubs 💙❤️

HS coach for 34 years. Just found your channel and shared this and your channel with my team. I really appreciate that you explain how and why you do what you do. Fantastic stuff! Look forward to seeing what else you share. P.S. I really appreciate sharing stuff with our kids from guys who are class act guys as well. Thank you! Good luck in '24! Go Cubs!
  • Thanks Dansby! for the advice and taking the time out of your busy day to talk with us about your infield routine. Go Cubs ♥️💙🐻
  • We miss you on the Braves, but wish you nothing but success wherever your career takes you. Class act and amazing individual. Swanny fan for life!

I do these exact drills with my 9 year old. I explained when he presses through to the sides it has to be one handed and made him use both to see how much it limits his rom. Great tip on telling kids to act like they have brace on the wrist.
  • Hi Dansby I am a big fan and love watching your podcasts! This season will be one to remember! Keep working💪
  • S/o the great Ron Washington. He's finally getting his credit for these infield drills that he created. So many players that have gone through the braves organization have really benefited from them. Salute dansby! One of the best SS in the game!

Very good was teaching my players this just today.in your final on field drill where you attack ball i do suggest you dont flip your wrist at point of receive. Just have glove down.

Could never be enough of this content. Love to see it.
  • Will be incorporating this at baseball practice, as I’m trying to become a better infielder. Even better when it’s my favorite player telling me information that I actually understand and isn’t to complicated. Thanks Dansby!

They're using some of what Wash teaches but not everything. If you watch the Ozzie Albies/Wash video, it's two hands when the ground ball is in the middle, and one hand to glove side or backhand. Albies fields balls in the middle with two hands -- to each his own. At the end of this Swanson video, watch his footwork as he opens up the stance slightly on ground balls as he fields them which opens up the glove slightly and creates a bigger pocket. The best in the game work on stuff like this everyday.
