Martin and Tim from APEX Alaska were awesome for setting everything up to do this! It’s not launched yet, but when it is they’ll have you covered end to end with amazing lakeside accommodations for summer and winter training at the Alaska Aviation Adventure HQ.
Pilots would come and join us to “expand” their flying skills, get to see Aviation from a different angle and experience the application of it to Alaska.
Specialized 1 on 1 training as well as groups of 6-8 to come and fly helicopters, floats (Super Cub and beaver), wheels, skis, lakes rivers and Ocean!

Regarding the Survival kit:
My friends at TacAero shared this code with the Flight Chops community to save $250 USD
on an Aviation Survival Kit this spring.
I am not being paid any portion of the sales,
I just want to be a part of helping get more pilots flying safely.

To get a $250 USD discount,
Use the code Chops250 at check out:

elite.tacaero.com/products/tacaero-aviation-surviv…

Clearly it is possible to do the work and research to put a kit together yourself more cheaply,
but the very experienced team at TacAero knows what you need.
So if you want to save that time, effort, and the chance of getting it wrong,
I stand behind this ready to go kit.

FLIGHT CHOPS DISCLAIMER: I am a "weekend warrior" private pilot, I fly for fun with no intentions of going commercial. I have had my PPL for over 15 years, but still consider each flight a learning experience - I generally take detailed notes after each flight to remind myself what went well or what I could do to improve.... Having the GoPro cameras to record flights like this is invaluable. I find these self analysis videos very helpful in my constant quest to improve, and am happy to share. Feedback is invited; however, please keep it positive.

You could make a dozen of these Alaska Beaver episodes and it would not get old.
  • @MitchJ
Holy crap! That has GOT to be the most gorgeous scenery I have ever seen. That's a pilot's dream come true, man. You were so lucky to fly that. And thank you for sharing it with all of us.
  • @ArcticMayhem
You should see what the Knik area looks like in the winter. I just spent the afternoon ski flying around there today and it was awesome. I grew up drift gillnetting in Prince William Sound. It's a pretty cool place.

  • Wow, you had a beautiful, rare day. I haven't been back that way for 30 years, and I remember it always being cold and overcast on the best of days.
