This is a Motormouth couple car review of our new 2024 VW GTI. So far we are really loving the 2024 VW GTI, it’s sporty and fun yet offers a sophisticated ride quality, it’s a great daily driver. It has a standard limited slip differential and models above the base get dynamic chassis control.
The 2024 VW GTI has a 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission or an available 6-speed manual, 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. This is a FWD model and 2024 is the last year for the manual transmission, so get it while you can. In fact, the Golf R and Jetta will no longer be offered with a manual for 2025, only the GLI will have it.
The interior of the 2024 VW GTI is comfortable and actually feels quite spacious. We decided to delete the leather upholstery on the top trim and opted for the plaid seats. We don’t get the power driver’s seat because of it and we thought we would miss it because we share the car but we don’t because there is a power recline on the seats which is all we need.
Take a look at the pricing, it’s pretty close in both Canada and the US. In Canada, including freight, PDI and fees, the GTI DCT starts at $37,370 CAD, Autobahn Manual $39,470 CAD, Autobahn DCT $40,170 CAD, Performance Manual $43,570 CAD and Performance DCT $44,970 CAD.
In the US, S $31,965 USD, 380 S $32,685 USD, SE $36,915 USD, 380 SE $37,485 USD, Autobahn $40,505 USD and 380 Autobahn $40,825 USD.
We bought the top trim Performance 2024 VW GTI model with a manual transmission which is equivalent to the 380 Autobahn trim in the US.
Our 2024 VW GTI has the larger 10” touchscreen with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, navigation, a 10.25” digital driver display, wireless charger, Harman Kardon sound system, heated and ventilated front seats, manual front seats, a heated steering wheel, ambient lighting with 30 colours, a panoramic sunroof, heated rear seats and power folding exterior mirrors.
The top trim does come with leather upholstery and a power driver’s seat but we deleted both features to get the plaid upholstery.

I just a 2024 GTI SE with leather and DSG. So much more refined than my gti of the past. I love it, so much performance and still a great daily driver

This is so funny to see you two buying this car and releasing this video 9 days after my wife and I just bought a white 380 Performance with the manual. It's like you were listening to all our conversations. We also had a Cayenne, (manual) and we traded an Audi A4 Allroad on this... and we LOVE the FUN despite the two cars being siblings in the car world.

Finally, you’re doing it. I was waiting all the time just nonstop, waiting and waiting. I was just so nervous!😂

Love your reviews, Very down to earth, Thankyou! I've had a couple GTI's & one Golf Type R, Which I tuned & modified to a Stage 3 The only other thing that I could have done was to put a bigger turbo charger on it. Did not need it, already putting down massive power, I could smoke the Mustang 5 litre! Just did it a couple of times.Keep the downloads coming, Love them!!

I had a MK7 GTI for five years and loved it. Great cars!
  • Congratulations guys and a wonderful lemon and lime match! I just got a 2024 Golf R also in manual. Love it.

I can't believe a German company (i'm half german) is getting rid of manual transmissions... I learned to drive manual on a Pinto station wagon when I was 13 years old! Then drove my dad's Rabbit when I was 17... always drove a manual! Good for you to order a manual!😀 Love the plaid seats!

My first car was a 1978 VW Rabbit (which was a Golf everywhere else in the world). Always have a soft spot in my heart for these. Congrats on your GTI. You'll have many years of affordable fun with that car.
  • Your pomelo yellow GTI looks great. Hope I have a manual too. But the dual clutch is great too. Thanks! Great reviews on the GTI

That is a very nice machine. I really like the fog lights and the way they are configured.
