It's crazy how the voice of the man on the ground goes from panicked and urgent with gunfire in the background at the first call to way more relaxed and quieter after the first strafe. It's some badass dish

I served in the british military in Afghanistan 2009.. you A10 pilots are amazing.. you guys saved our bacon so many times.. 🇬🇧💪🇺🇸

Im home safe now, out of the Army, laying in bed watching YouTube, 15 years later, because these guys that were there doing this. There were times I was sure I wasn't going to ever see my home again. Then I would hear that gun, and we'd be okay. Never got to personally meet anyone that was up there saving my ass, but I have never been so thankful for anyone to this day.

flying and maneuvering a A-10 in battle conditions, no problem understanding the other side of the radio damn near impossible
  • HOG 01 is one excellent pilot and fighter. Within two minutes, he delivered accurate fire "guns good" to the enemy position whilst coordinating his wingmen. Excellent footage.

God bless you A-10 pilots, you have saved my life on multiple occassions. The frantic radio transmission on the ground is very real and needless to say, scary. But once you saw the devastation that the 30MM cannon brings on the hog, you thanked god that you were on the the A-10's side.

Soldier: We need air support now! Pilot: Negative soldier, you need 2 more kills to unlock me.

I was an Infantry Marine who fought in Iraq twice. You know an A10 is making a run when you hear the sweet sounds of that 30mm cannon going to town. So bad ass, I love the A10's.

It never ceases to amaze me how the pilots are so calm they sound almost bored. The guys on the ground aren’t much different except they have to talk louder. Total professionals
  • Having been "this guy on the ground", I can say the arrival and work of an A10 in support is beyond description. The ability to deliver a lethal punch in close proximity to friendly forces allowed many a soldier, airman, sailor to win the battle and return home safely. Great video

Others: Guns attached on a plane. US: plane attached on a gun.

Absolutely love the A-10. If you're A-10 crew, ground or air, you have my total respect. Oh, and we're proud to have US military personnel stationed on UK soil. 🇬🇧
  • I Worked hard to be a airline pilot. I saw the A10 years ago in Hartford . When I was running freight in a old piston airplane. If I was a American. I wanted that job. Well from Canada. No chance. However. I always saw so much respect from the Americans. God bless you all. I miss those days

I have a cousin who served in the US Army in both Iraq and Afghanistan. He told me while he was out on patrol, their convoy got ambushed immediately after the lead vehicle hit a IED. They were engaged by the Taliban on both sides of the valley who fired with small arms, rockets and mortars. A10 support was called in just in time as they were getting surrounded. Two A10s showed up to strafe both sides of the valley and the firefight stopped immediately. That is how effective A10s are. Even if the enemy wasn't completely wiped out, the sound of those guns really did put enough fear into the Taliban to make them break contact.

this is the best cockpit footage in action of A-10
  • I’m just a retired Army Infantry Senior NCO and been in two wars. I was almost wiped out by an A-10 while in the 101st ABN on the Iraqi border, scared the hell, out of us but he broke off his run at the last second. Then later in 2003 we had enemy in a building pumping out fire down our MSR, the A-10 came down and it got real quiet after one pass. In the 80’s-90’s we were trained to coordinate close air support and taught the various munitions at their disposal and the best approach vectors for max impact but today they have AF liaison coordinators to talk with the birds. We knew their frequencies and once in the Gulf War we had 16” naval rifles on our support card but just for a couple days, that one kind of shocked us Grunts, lol, the 16” is more of a zip code weapon, lol. Infantry leaders carry a couple M4 magazines that’re full of tracer rounds which I use to direct fire for my platoon/squad or even air assets. Always put a few tracers at the bottom of each mag to let you know when you’re running low, during a fight, tracking ammo consumption isn’t that accurate. And always put on some tourniquets on one leg and upper arm, just safety pin it in place so when you’re hit, you can quickly clamp it down, the old cloth equipment straps work great as tourniquets if you run low. Always carry extra HC smoke grenades, you’ll need them more than you think.

Icredible to see the A-10 fulfilling its role on the maximum. That is, a ground attack support plane that closely works with ground units in close communication and cooperation. Awesome.
