A friend of mine used to work at an ATT store in Westwood, and Henry came in and bought a phone from him. He said thanks and left . . . But then came back unannounced 10 minutes later with a coffee, handed it my my friend and said, "I was getting a coffee and I just thought you might like to have one, too." What a guy.

Hader's impression of Winkler is so spot on that if I heard him do a fake interview as Winkler, I wouldn't know the difference. lol

Henry Winkler is nothing short of the perfect gentlemen. I remember him once getting down on his knees just to introduce himself to me while I was in the middle of plating cars for the scene.
  • I've had "I'm, Barry?" (Bill as Winkler) popping into my head and making me giggle all week.
  • Henry Winkler saw me in LA years ago. I was hating my 1st job out of college (top adverising agency) and was out at lunch completely broken. He stopped to chat with me and gave me some words of advice. I recently retired at 50yrs old. Successful in my own owned businesses. I often look back on that day and have passed those words onto everyone I've mentored. It was a treat to see the Barry Episodes. And the man who turned my life around.

Last week, I told a friend “It’s about a hitman who decides that he’s going to become an actor. He’s an expert hitman, but he’s a terrible actor” but four seasons later, I’m not sure that was the best description.

I love the stories Conan tells about his kids. The fact that at 3:53 his son watches tv series with him in their entirety. His daughter went with him to Coachella, road trip and all. These are teens who are either almost out of the house and the other already off to college and they love spending quality time with their Dad! I don’t have a teen and always just hear the horror stories of how they begin to hate you at a certain age, after you’ve poured your heart and soul into loving and raising them. It just warms my heart to no end that this is not always the case. AND we’re talking about a celebrity… Conan could’ve been way too worried about his career to care to be a present father but the glimpses he’s shared about the quality time he spends with his kids shows how very present he has been in their life. I love that. I hope I have an amazing bond with my kids when they’re all teens and beyond ❤

It is so funny to me that Henry Winkler played The Fonz when he is really such a sweet dork in real life.

Conan's observation about the changing tone of Barry was great. I think the tonal shift takes place as Barry's (and other people's) actions start to have lingering effects. Early in season one, he's in a new place, with new people. The longer he's there, the deeper and wider the impact of his actions on himself and those around him. (It's like Breaking Bad in that way.)
  • If Bill stays dedicated to writing/directing characters the way he has for Barry, he's got a hell of a career ahead of him. I love that he takes his characters so seriously.

Bill Hader is one of the most creative and talented actor come out of SNL

I could listen to Bill Hader talk for hours. Sometimes I do. Stop judging me, it's the algorithm.

Bill is hands down one of my all time favorite guests! Amazing flow, energy and he stays in the topic after these jokes.

I think one of the most genius things about the show is how the characters in Barry are constantly referencing their own behavior or choices based on things they've seen in films. So it becomes an interesting exercise in trying to determine and understand whether a character's motivations are sincere or performative or some combination of both. And I think it's a fascinating commentary on the world we live in today whether it was intentional in the writer's room or not. Brilliant show. Truly.

I love how this episode was so good that they have released all of it in several clips. JUST RELEASE THE ENTIRE THING!
  • Bill Hader is way more talented than people give him credit for. I can already see him becoming the next Scorsese/Tarantino.

Henry Winkler is your wing man, your hype-man, and the father you never knew you had, all in one!
  • @SeeStuDo
I'm so excited to what else Hader creates. Barry and Documentary Now are high class product.
  • I loved this show for years and the twists have taken me aback. The show morphed into something different and then returned to what made it great. It’s a fantastic show and bill is such an amazing actor.
