Based on Comey’s No. 1 New York Times bestselling book A Higher Loyalty and more than a year of additional interviews with a number of key principals, THE COMEY RULE is an immersive, behind-the-headlines account of the historically turbulent events surrounding the 2016 presidential election and its aftermath, which divided a nation. THE COMEY RULE is not a biopic of one man, but is instead the story of two powerful figures, Comey and Trump, whose strikingly different personalities, ethics and loyalties put them on a collision course.

I think this is the first time Trump's been portrayed in a drama rather than a satire. It's fascinating to watch. Brendan Gleeson does a great job here
  • @isthisryan7899
Trump is such a caricature that even serious actors can’t play him without looking like it’s satire
  • @pointless3k
Gleeson does Trump in such a fantastic, non-satirical way. Having seen The Comey Rule, I keep returning to watch this clip to appreciate his craft.

Gleeson is AMAZING, with the inward sniffs, the self pitying mannerisms, the mouth ... omg, he is talented.
  • @rebboy17
I’ve got the best loyalty no one has ever had more loyalty ever before.

Gleeson did such an incredible job as Trump. He nailed him to a tee! I would love to see him get an Emmy nod for his performance.
  • @gimpinmypants
Brenden Gleeson looks and sounds too intelligent for this role.

I enjoy Brendan's performance because he gets a lot of the small mannerisms down that I hadn't actually noticed before like the deep intake of air before he speaks and the little held tilts. Most people focus on his hands and his lips, but his head and breathing also make the character. Also the writing is really good in this scene. First Brendan says you know what I expect and you get lost in his little narcissistic speech until it comes around again and ends on that point. Loyalty. Trump's demand for loyalty stems from his neurosis. He demands loyalty because he honestly believes he has all the answers.

Gleeson nails this. The speech patterns, the dull-witted menace, the egomania, and ignorance. It's genuinely creepy.

I can't imagine how many movies are gonna look like this in the future....it's absolutely terrifying.
  • @Phenom0100
I still can't take Trump seriously in this role even when it's not a satire.
  • @mstone9364
It makes sense that “Mad Eye Moody” would play Donald Trump 😂
  • I’m watching this thinking, “I can’t wait for the accent expert on Wired to give his opinion on this.”
  • Damned if Gleeson isn't folding a bit of Brando/Corleone into his performance - and damned if it ain't drilling dead-center.
  • @frankie1012
He’s so freaking creepy here. Definitely villainous.
  • @twitt9425
He’s like a satire. But also like a mob boss. Like you want to say he’s ridiculous, but you don’t want to get disappeared
  • @CB-qg3yh
Say what you will about the movie, but Brendan Gleeson does an incredible job
  • Gleeson’s impression of Trump is 50% amazing and 50% awful. I genuinely can’t stop watching it because I’ve never been so conflicted over a performance.
