William Henry Seward was Abraham Lincoln’s Secretary of if state. He is responsible for negotiating America’s purchase of Alaska for $7.2 million in 1867 under the Johnson administration. He was harshly criticized for the purchase giving Alaska the nickname of “Seward’s folly.” Little did anyone know Alaska would be so rich in resources.

Everything is more expensive in Alaska, because they have to shipped in from the lower 48. Most of the difference in prices between the lower 48 and Alaska is transportation costs elevating the prices.

Hey Nomi. I was fortunate enough to have a son living in Alaska for 10 years. My first grandchild was born there. I have been there several times. Alaska is a state that truly humbles the human view of our place on the planet. I believe that everyone should go there, even if they have to sell something. An indescribable treasure.
