My wife HATES action movies. I told her about Apocalypto with a promise that its something very different and she was simply mind blown and absolutely loved it. Our favourite scene being when Jaguar Paw's wife gives birth. SUPERB!!

Master and Commander is a Real Gem. The characters are Real and human with great performances even in supporting roles. Action and anticipation are Well balanced, even historically it is quite accurate. A definite Watch.

I'd throw in Taegukgi. Its about two brothers fighting in the Korean War. Also Indigènes and Joyeux Noel. The first is about a company of Algerian soldiers in WWII and the second is about the Christmas Truce during WWI.

As an archeology student in Italy, I can guarantee you 100% that the first king is absolutely accurate. From weapons, to language and dressing is pitch point perfect. Say whatever you want about the plot, it's obviously false

Master & Commander is one of my all time favorite movies…A true historical masterpiece Downfall is brilliant as well with some 1st class acting. Apocalypto …. I thought was well done & a nice look at a period of history that you don’t see too often.
