MMDA Raid Illegal Towing (Subtitles)

Please warn your friends and family about these illegal towing operations. When in doubt, CALL THE POLICE.
These tow trucks are NOT accredited and they tow vehicles even if they're legally parked. They remove the battery from the vehicle and take your key so you can't drive away. Then they demand 5-15k to let you go.
Two men have been arrested and two tow trucks impounded. All of the illegally towed vehicles were ordered released.
The fact that they're using a public road as their impound area is already a big red flag. Be especially wary if they try to take your vehicle to Osmena Highway or Balintawak.
This is what happens when different agencies work together. Solid results! MMDA, PNP HPG, LTFRB, iACT, AFP.
For context, the morning started with the closing of bus terminals in Pasay. Then a sudden transition to this raid.
If ever your vehicle is towed for illegal parking, there MUST be an enforcer there and they have to issue a ticket.
Stalled vehicles can be towed without an enforcer but the towing crew must call the MMDA Metrobase and get a reference number. You can verify that reference number by calling MMDA Hotline 136.

NEVER, NEVER GIVE YOUR VEHICLE KEYS TO ANY TOW TRUCK SERVICE EITHER LEGAL OR ILLEGAL. YOU ARE NOT OBLIGED TO GIVE THE KEYS TO THEM. IF YOU GET TOWED AND THE DRIVER OF THE TOW TRUCK ASKS FOR YOUR KEYS. THAT MEANS HE IS ILLEGAL.

That happened to my husband when he visited the Phillipines,. He went to Taft, park just for few minutes to confirm his flight, when he returned wala na ang kotse, nang tinubos ang sasakyan, pati yong mga pinamili niya sa loob nang kotse worth a lot of money and lot of goods, nawala din. Ganoon daw pag nag tow ang sasakyan., Pati gamit sa loob nang kotse nawawala. 'what a shame???

Dapat nmn kasi may sariling towing truck nalang ang gobyerno di na dapat kumukuha nang serbisyo sa mga private na towing services kasi jan nagmumula ang illegal na gawain

Wth! They disguise the carnapping as towing services? MMDA was still keeping a good reputation and some unscrupulous guys were taking advantage. Shame on them!

Good day, I just watched again this video of yours with the late Good Chairman Danny Lim and I hope that HPG MMDA & LTFRB operate regularly at the stretch of OSMEÑA HIGHWAY between Pres Quirino in Manila to Magallanes Edsa in Makati because many tow truck groups does illegal activities until now which usually are from Bangkal Makati
