Osyluths—sometimes called bone devils—serve as taskmasters and interrogators of the devils. They act as law-enforcement throughout Hell, leading many devils to fear their presence. Bone devils delight in torturing mortals and devils alike, causing physical and mental suffering wherever they go. Bone devils appear to be skeletal humanoids a tall, emaciated fiend with dried skin stretched so tight as to outline and emphasize every bone in its body. It has a skull-like head and a bony scorpion-like tail and exudes a stench of decay. An osyluth stands about 9ft tall and weighs roughly 500lbs.

I killed one of these guys once, my guy had ridiculous gear that gave him stone giant strength and stuff like that. Toughest fight Ive ever had.

I personally like the insectile wings over the skeletal bat wings, I feel it makes the bone devils feel more like a distinct creature than they would if they were just a skeletal fiend undead.

One of my friends calls these things “bone daddies”. It’s a...surreal experience to use these in-game because of that.

Writing one of these bastards into my story. Basically the MC has to combat one of these things in his dreams in order to train. And if he dies in a nightmare, he respawn moments later and has to keep dying until he kills it, or the dream ends. Brutal motherfuckers

Ahhh...that pic at the end brings back memories! I had my dad's first edition books, and I think that picture was in the PHB...somewhere around the fighter class, I think?
