New Orleans and New Orleans Jazz: Best of New Orleans Jazz Music (New Orleans Jazz Festival & Fest)

t was 1945.  I was sixteen.  A “friend” took me to the Stuyvesant
Casino to hear some “authentic New Orleans Jazz.” I think it was
in Brooklyn. The leader was Bunk Johnson on Trumpet. Jim Robinson was
on trombone, Baby Dodds on drums, George Lewis on clarinet and Don
Ewell on piano. Ewell was the only Caucasian in the group. The
previous year, George Lewis had recorded Burgundy Street Blues. The
correct pronunciation places the accent on “gun”.

I fell in love with
the music and for the next couple of weeks I was there every night
until the group returned to New Orleans. The closest I ever came to
similar enjoyment was about 30 years later when Kid Ory was at the
Beverly Caverns in Los Angeles playing Muskrat Ramble. Teddy Buckner
was with him.  I went there so often that Ory often say at my table
and we exchanged anecdotes.

I’m now 90 years
old and almost deaf but I have wonderful memories of my introduction
to New Orleans Jazz.

The originals got me into liking jazz

Growing up in New Orleans it's hard to not hear live music. It's everywhere. At home, at festivals, even walking the streets it's everywhere.

Man, if only life were as lovely as this music sometimes

I live in new Orleans and I had a friend ask me if I ever got tired of hearing jazz. So I took him down here and now he cant get enough jazz.

Ah it takes me back to being a small child walking through the French quarter with my family. The jazz ringing through the air, the sugar of beignets all over my shirt wearing a little cafe dumonde hat. Sweet memories.

Oh one day I will return to Louisiana, breathe in that moist air and walk along the streets of dear New Orleans 🙏

This is the perfect music for when you're dressed formally and walking in the downtown of small town on a beautifully day.

This comment section honestly really shows there are still good people in this world.....even when you feel so alone.

People who disliked this should be tested for Covid. They've lost their taste.

The first visit to New Orleans, I saw Al Hirt and Pete Fountain. Then I went on active duty with the army. I kept hearing the music while crawling in the dirt.

I leave New Orleans tomorrow morning, and I already miss the music, and the culture. What a lovable city

This is the best thing to put on a good morning, or night, sitting in your desk writing or drawing, you put up a candle and listen to these good Jazz

With this music you want only to dream about something funny and happy.

anyone keeps getting the urge to like every other song before realizing that its all one video. quite a lotta good ones in here
