In June I solo backpacked the West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island in Canada. 50 Miles through forest, along beaches, climbing ladders, crossing bridges and traversing roots and logs on one of those most exciting and beautiful thru hikes I have done to date.
This is part 1 of the journey, chronicling days 1-3.

Part 2 can be watched here:    • Solo Backpacking 50 miles on Canada's...

What a great hike. I have never seen cable cars and so many ladders on a hike. Thanks Alice.
  • Wowsers Alice. You are absolutely a fabulous human being and I so appreciate that you create such high quality videography of your adventures. This one is one of my favorites ever. What a truly spectacular part of our pale blue dot. You keep going girl! Love and best wishes.
  • Cool opening song. Inspirational and dreamy along with conveying a sense of impending discovery to a revolutionary degree.

That was awesome Alice. I was patiently waiting for this trail report. There is so much to see. I am glad that there is more than one part to this adventure. Very well done, as usual, and the safety comments are greatly appreciated. The West Coast Trail is more than a walk in a park, it is remote and no exit points along the trail. A person has to be self-sufficient for a whole week, to be compatible with the elements and with the wildlife. Good gear is so important, the best quality a hiker can buy and has to depend on. I am glad you did it, you are a tough Lady. Determination is what it takes, the rest follows one step at the time. Hiking solo is difficult, more weight on your back, nobody to share with, especially the food although it is dehydrated most of it, still. I can't wait to watch Part # 2. 🇨🇦 🥾 😎 🇺🇸
  • Amazing video! Thank you for sharing it with us! I did the hike in 1982 with my dad and some friends from uni. Your video brought back great memories! Nice to see the trail is being taken care of and is not too over-developed or over-used!
  • I watch this for many times as it is indeed a great hiking video. The most interesting part is the wonderful waterfall at the end of the episode which you are enjoying swimming in it.
