Thank you so much Audible for sponsoring this video!

WOOOO-EEEEE, y'all. As a final project of the Halloween season, my big ol' brain and I decided that it was going to be a freakin' DOOZIE. I absolutely love recreating old costumes, and I came across a couple "carousel dresses" in my search. I was instantly obsessed with the idea BUT... I wanted to see if I could make it spin.
So began the trials and tribulations, curses and band-aids that went into this project. I hope you all enjoy and have an amazing Halloween!!!
I LOVE YOU ALL!

Hello my loves!! Captions are currently out for transcription and will be up hopefully later tonight! LOVE YA!!

I love that your husband doesn't even flinch at any crazy scheme you come up with, just rolls with it and provides whatever help you need. He's a good un.
  • I'm an engineer and I'm impressed. You chose a challenging entry into mechanical builds, and I loved seeing the progression. In my experience, engineering is failing more times than you can count until you find the solution that works well enough, lol. And every time you learn so next time is a little bit less of a slog. Great job!
  • It makes me sad that Rachel doesn't have a Rachel to watch on Saturday mornings while crafting.
  • @elbo8867
As an engineer watching this video: I'm very impressed with the mechanism you came up with, considering your experience! You should be proud :)
  • @leshi97
A costume doesn't have to be perfectly constructed to be mind blowing and cool. Just the fact that you made this possible is amazing
  • @andreahulman
Ok, but I AM an engineer watching this video and I am impressed with your creativity and problem solving. I can design whatever amazing solution I want, but at the end of the day I have to make everything work with the materials that I have, and you did that flawlessly. You (and Nick) did some awesome engineering on this project, and you should be proud of it!
  • @sjlarson92
Shout out to all the significant others helping their creative partners with our crazy schemes. We appreciate you!
  • @uniquefreak77
I haven't even finished the video but I know I want a sequel collab with Simone Giertz bc who else would appreciate the mechanical engineering AND the whimsy of this dress!! If Rachel is in her electrical era, I think their combined brains would make some amaaaazing fashion IMO 👀👀👀

All hail our Whimsical Overlord, Rachel Maksy!
  • @Ashley-cj6dw
I just want to say... the COMMITMENT y'all went through for this dress. We dipped into METALWORKING for this dress... WHAT? Phenomanal video. This dress was a CHALLENGE and you bodied it!!!!
  • Me: sitting in bed, eating candied peanuts and knitting (with zero electrical experience) Rachel: "It would just have to make a sideways track. I have no idea if this actually makes sense" Me: Yeah no I think that'll work
  • @verminjerky
"Wow, Rachel loves to get herself in deep on these difficult projects. I could never." - Me watching her as I work on my Halloween mask, which is an articulated goat demon mask that breathes smoke and has remote controlled LED effects and screens in the eyes

As an engineer watching this video I gave you an A++ for the effort and ingenuity. As an aeronautical engineer and not a mechanical engineer I probably couldn't have done any better lol.
  • Rachel! I don’t know how closely you read your comments—but I have a video request. You’ve shown SO MUCH growth in your Making Skills. I’d love to see a video where you took something you made a while ago, had some critiques on—and then remake it now. It would be exciting to sort of see that shift from Rough Draft to Final Copy.
  • @WolkeYume
This video started out as: Shoutout to Nick whose wife has a whole barn to craft and sew, yet still uses the living room (big mood) And moved to: Shoutout to Nick for providing more braincells when Rachel has spent all of hers😂 Well done you guys!!
  • @rueoliver
I love how involved and invested Nick was to this project! We have slowly gotten to see him but just the fact that we could just barely see his knee during the wrap up really showed how much he wanted to be there! Definitely think this was and is a good bonding experience❤❤❤
  • @TheMagnoliaWitch
Three cheers for Nick! 🎉🎉🎉 Helpful husbands are always awesome!😂
  • @booyoung9643
I love Nick’s willingness to jump in and help Rachel’s visions become reality, they are both so amazingly skilful ! They really are the creative dream team 💕
