Gus was not just smart, he was patient, he was calculated and he left emotion and pride out for most of the series, until he made a fatal mistake.

He's so smart that he was already doing all-day breakfast on the menu way back in the early 2000s

If Walt could keep his ego in check he would’ve been unstoppable. Gus knew how to play the long game.
  • It's nice to see a gus compilation without phonk and 17 tiktok filters

As someone who worked at McDonald’s and works at a retail place rn I can relate very strongly to Gus’ Customer Service Voice

It’s crazy how relieved Gus was after killing Lalo, you can really see how many years it took from him when watching Breaking Bad.
  • He became emotionally vulnerable for only one moment in Breaking Bad and got killed for it 😭
  • In any good characters, I always look to see if there are contradictions to them. I see that Gustavo's main contradiction is that he takes a rational, practical approach to achieve an irrational, emotional goal.
  • Gus killing Lalo will forever be my favourite Esposito performance. We knew he was scared of Lalo after seeing him grind his entire operation to a halt in order to ward against him, but it was always a calm, rational response to a greater threat, but in this scene the FEAR in Gus's face just says everything; he wasn't being rational or calculated, he was paranoid and threw all his defenses up because he knew Lalo was the better man, who in the end just got unlucky.
  • That moment you realize that in the end Lalo still managed to kill Gus (since Lalo is the one who gave Hector his bell).

2:50 I love the smile he had when he made the shot showing that he is not emotionless but he is good at acting like it

Lyle truly was the rock that kept Gus's plans running perfectly
  • It’s amazing how down to earth and charming he is while in public. Always been fascinated by two faced characters like that

I always like how in bcs we see Gus using fear to keep a person complacent and mike suggesting against that. Yet in BB it’s the opposite, it really shows how Gus became more calculated and learned not to have a “nacho” situation again, while mike went into his more ruthless, if it works get it done hitman we all know and love.

Funny thing is, Gus isn’t just intelligent, he is wise. He consistently give good advice to those around him, and he knows when to be loved and when he should be feared.

While everyone is talking about the amazing performances. 2:48 gus sinks a basket clear across the restaurant and smiles to himself...truly a nice moment.

The subtle critique of the writers was that the corporate intelligence was exactly the ‘smart’ that organized crime rings admire. The makers of the godfather said similar things, and the ex-criminal writer of ‘soul on ice’ said the same thing: corporate and criminal values are the same when you subtract all the ‘rudeness’ of street manners.

2:51 Love how it goes from “Gus being happy because he hit a cool trick shot” to “Gus brutally murdering a man”

(BB/BCS Spoilers) Gus is the most important character in the BB universe. In that he more than any other character drives forward the events of both shows. Without him, Jimmy would’ve never worked for Lalo, Mike would never have gotten so deep in the game, Nacho and Howard would both still be alive, and Walt and Jesse would never have been anything more than low level street dealers.
  • 24:16 I love this scene. At this point Gus understood Walt enough to know exactly the right triggers to push to get him in line: his ego, his masculinity, his twisted justification of doing it all for his family.
