It truly hurts my heart to watch these old FDNY videos, Knowing that so many of the firefighters in these videos made that ultimate sacrifice without the slightest hesitation on 9/11. God bless them and may they R.I.P

Christopher Blackwell of Rescue 3 was the last interview heard on this video. He was killed on 9/11/01.. RIP brother, you will be missed.

Irish and Italian New Yorkers!! Best FDNY guys. God bless them

It struck me when the captain said people will jump out of the window no matter how far it is to fall if it's a choice between the fire and going out the window. This was shown to be true in the towers fire.

“How’s my ears? “”Looks like a good sunburn kid.”. Love these guys

I loved how they always wore their airsets, every call, but NEVER masked up, sitting there coughing up a lung

What another great vintage FDNY video from 1991. At 16:22, we see Chris Blackwell and Ray Meisenheimer. Requiescat in Pace brothers, 9/11, never forget, always remember. There is also another great Rescue 3 video from 1985 as well.

My Dad (John Mulroy) 30 years in the FDNY most of it at Rescue-3

It's amazing it took years after this video for FDNY to finally get bunker gear with the number of calls they take.

@14:00 "any firefighter will tell you a person caught between a fire and a window will jump, no matter the height" he had no idea how right that would be 10 years later.

@jamesmkalbaugh Chris was my cousin and i will always miss him. I myself am a cop in Baltimore and am just hitting my 20th year a milestone i believe Chris had just hit prior to 9/11. Our whole family has been involved in public service. It is a noble thing we all do to serve our communities. RIP all who gave the ultimate sacrifice, and be safe all my brothers and sisters.

Something that haunts me as a fireman who works on a heavy rescue If you worked on a rescue on 9/11 you didn’t come home
-
RIP Chris! You were the best of the best

We will do it again! 🇺🇸fantastic video. Thank you FDNY!!!

I knew when I was 5 I wanted to be a fireman. Never changed. 37+ years, now I work for a county Fire Marshal’s Office.
-
I remember this series. I also remember attending Al Ronaldson's funeral back in '91. Looking at some of the faces on the 9/11 poster at the firehouse, I recognise some in this video who were lost on that day. RIP brothers. Thank you for this video.

God bless FDNY. Best firefighters in the world. Thanks

Its one thing to be a firemane..its another to be a FDNY fireman..

We do what we do because of the love of the job and our willingness to always be ready to help those in need.

Crazy this is only 10 years before 9/11, because it looks ancient compared to footage of 9/11 where it looks particularly modern, even though it’s 19 years since then.
