I live in the Northwest Territories in Canada and there has been little to no production of inuit soapstone as it has been found that the silica that is dusted off over time and inhaled may cause cancer. So artists no longer create the beautiful carvings that once were very desirable. Although, if safety precautions are used, it should be ok when carving. Its sad really, People cant even give them away where I am from. Nobody wants soapstone in their homes and work environments. Anyways, just thought to share. ✌️

I have had about 10 David Winters cottages and they all chip . You would think he would realize this and change his materials. I lived in a cottage much like his cottages while my husband was stationed in England . Would love to go back thrifting . That is how I got into antiques and vintage .
