You know this release of the entire first season has really shown me how much of Last Week Tonight I’ve actually never seen
  • You guys should include the original date the episode aired in the description for context.

Sobering, yet wonderful to see these original shows, complete. Thank you to everyone at Last Week who made this possible. And thank you, John, for everything. Don't leave--we still need you!
  • Doug Ford failed spectacularly in his 2014 run for Mayor but a lot of people forgot his constant screwups in that campaign and rewarded him with the Premiership of Ontario in 2018. It’s 2024 and Doug, with his 2 terms in office, has continued to be a screwup.

I've been watching like 4 hours of John Oliver a day for the last week. Please send help
  • You and Jane Goodall was.a golden moment with a brilliant woman! Thank you🇺🇸

It's amazing to see the changes they made in pacing of the episode through out the first season.. especially these final episodes where John really found the "grove" we know and love in later seasons
  • I am Canadian and unfortunately Doug Ford has been Premier of Ontario since 2018, the province that I live in. We call him Thuggy Dougy.

tbh, I love the "added sugars" line on food labels! I feel like we've really come a long way in random sugar getting added to things (or I just go out of my way to find things with zero or low added sugar). Cool to see something John Oliver highlighted actually came to pass! Edit: The fact "added sugars" is in grams makes... complete sense to me? The serving sizes are measured in grams, now you can do easy math to find out that 50% of Honeycombs cereal is sugar. It's WEIRD that people say "22 tsps" of sugar like that MEANS ANYTHING (it's ~92g, btw).

Jane Goodall was top A category human being who understood the core values of respect and compassion and brought that message to the world. Thank you Jane Goodall for everything.

I love Jane Goodall so much. I was lucky enough to see her speak somewhat recently and she brings those stuffed animals with her everywhere apparently. She’s such an amazing woman and scientist.

Actually a fascinating study came out just last week about sentience among animals. There is now strong evidence that all vertibrae but also creatures like bees have a varying degree of sentience, self awareness and awareness of life. Many of us should really (re)consider our levels of empathy towards animals. The Jane Goodall interview was fantastic and great to see again.
  • And now Doug Ford is a second term premier of Ontario and absolutely destroying our universal healthcare, environment, and more 🙃

What can I say, less grey hair, the problems seem almost cute - like Ebola coverage - damn, we were so young and naive. The Russian submarine/ minx also hits different.
  • @jettaca88
So cool that Goodall was kidding along with John. 😂
  • @hatescheese
there needs to be a Doug Ford follow up now he is a premier
