A Great White Shark Cage Dive can be quite expensive and there are only a few places in the world where you can do them. So is it worth traveling there and pay top dollar to go and see the Great White shark in a cage?

Company we went with in False Bay, Cape Town: www.sharkexplorers.com/

I did it 2 years back in Gans baai, it included pick up and return from Cape Town, around 1,5hrs drive one way, tea, koffie and soup included, around half a day out in the bay, 30 minutes in the cage, it was quite a large group on board, around 30 guests, cost was €150 pp, we saw a lot of white sharks, no breaching though, I would say it's definitely worth doing.

The leaping out of the water is called breaching.

With the baiting but no feeding rule, does it not cause the sharks to expend valuable energy and “hunting time” being lured around the boat - for which they will not (hopefully) be getting a meal out of it? I’m asking sincerely as I am not very knowledgeable on this but would like to learn and understand

I was going to do a cage dive , along time ago. The cage was going to be resting on the ocean floor at 25 ft. I coulnt bring myself to do it. If the cage was going to be up top , i would have done it . Im thinking of doing my Scuba course again. If i do , im going to try to save up for a cage dive for sure. I should of did it , when i had the chance. Never to late tho ! I

In Simon's Town is way better, There is diving company that they only put 2 divers in the cage with scuba air hose to let you stay longer in the water.
  • Blowing hundreds of thousands of valuable dollars on these obsessive, pointless trips where we do nothing but stare at sharks swimming towards us is in no way worth it for me. I can only afford certain things like my university studies which in my opinion is much wiser and gives me a better future as a dignified person.
