Wikipedia:
John Elroy Sanford[1] (December 9, 1922 – October 11, 1991), better known by his screen name Redd Foxx, was an American stand-up comedian and actor, best remembered for his explicit comedy records and his starring role on the 1970s sitcom Sanford and Son.[2] Foxx gained notoriety with his raunchy nightclub acts during the 1950s and 1960s. Known as the "King of the Party Records", he performed on more than 50 records in his lifetime. He also starred in Sanford, The Redd Foxx Show and The Royal Family. His film projects included All the Fine Young Cannibals (1960), Cotton Comes to Harlem (1970), Norman... Is That You? (1976) and Harlem Nights (1989).

In 2004, Comedy Central Presents: 100 Greatest Stand-ups of All Time ranked Foxx as the 24th best stand-up comedian.[3] Foxx not only influenced many comedians,[2] but was often portrayed in popular culture as well, mainly as a result of his famous catchphrases, body language and facial expressions exhibited on Sanford and Son. During the show's five year run, Foxx won a Golden Globe Award and received an additional three nominations, along with three Primetime Emmy Award nominations.

I inherited a 1983 Mercury Grand Marquis from my grandparents in the early '90's. My grandfather, as I discovered, was a huge Redd Foxx fan. He left his collection of Redd Foxx 8 tracks in the glove box. That's when I was first introduced to his standup comedy. I had been a fan of Sanford and Son (in syndication) before that. Without Redd, we'd probably never have Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock or Jamie Foxx. A treasure.

It's not even his jokes, its his personality and his delivery. Foxx is the kind of dude to sit out by a grill with a beer and keep you entertained for hours.
  • In my Lifetime, They were All Here at One Time. All of Them! There Will never be another Lifetime like Ours.😎

  • I remember watching Sanford and Son with my grandfather when I was about 10. Fred would make my granddaddy laugh so hard we thought he was crying. Redd is simply one of the best ever!
  • 1:07-1:10 As Mr. Foxx takes the stage, you see him nodding at his Sanford (1980-81) co-star, the late Dennis Burkley. Redd Foxx, truly one of the greatest comedians of all time hands down.

Redd Foxx has been my comedy idol since I was little. He was a brilliant man. His catalog of jokes are timeless. His stage presence doing stand up or on the t.v., was what most of today's comedians strive for. Sanford a& Son is still on my morning watch list everyday as I have coffee. Thank you for this video

I grew up listening to Redd when I was a kid. I'm only 33, but I spent a lot of time with my grandparents. Grandpa was a bit like Redd sometimes. lol
