The ceiling fan switch... During the summer, should the switch be up or down? Left or right? Which way should the ceiling fan spin in the winter? Why does it matter anyway? In this video I explain which way your ceiling fan switch should go during winter and summer and why it matters ;) By the way, Geico makes a brief appearance in the video.. Were you able to catch him?

Watch 22 videos and you are the first person who smart enough to actually say down for the summer up for the winter and then suggested marking it on the actual fan. Excellent 🎉🎉🎉 👍 Thank You Peace, Health, Wealth and Gratitude Always 🙏😇❤️

Easy to remember: SUMMER to cool DOWN. WINTER to warm UP.
  • @skyblueeyes9968
Why don’t they just write winter and summer on the dang switch??? Then we wouldn’t get confused
  • @Pelusaluz
This is the best and simple explanation of how to switch the ceiling fan.
  • @tinam2696
Thanks, I was getting dizzy TRYING to figure out "clockwise" vs "counter clickwise'. 🤪
  • @sharoncouch9193
Great job showing exactly what to do. Switch up for winter and down for summer. Most videos don’t show the switch as they switch it. Great job
  • @berto316life4
Nice tip at the end about distributing the hot and cold air evenly to help prevent that cold draft at the floor. Never thought of that. 👍

Every room in my house in Virginia has ceiling fans and I've lived in it since August 2002 and never knew which way those blades should be turning. This has been on my mind recently because winter is almost here. Tomorrow, I plan to turn off all the fanbs and make sure they're Up or Right. Thanks so much Jay.

I would think the reverse….if heat rises and you have a ceiling fan; aren’t you just blowing hot air down on you in the summer? Shouldn’t you be taking the cooler air that’s below and drawing it up into the air. Then in the winter time, wouldn’t you want the hot air that’s above the fan to be pulled down to warm you. I can see if the fan was sitting in a window or like a floor fan but this concept just seems off for a ceiling fan.

Thank you so much for the quick and simple explanation. This is exactly what I was looking for. Excellent!
  • @mnurse2b
Thank you for this simple explanation of up or down! Other videos talked about rotation, remote control setting. Omg! Now I k ow after searching 3-4 videos.
  • This is the best video I have researched fir fan switching to summer and winter months.
  • @Just2HepCats
Thank you sooo much! every video I've watched made directions COMPLICATED and mean and cruel. I mean it. !!
  • Jay, your videos are outstanding. You always touch on a minor detail that is so useful, but rarely explained by other videos on YouTube. Keep up the great work. You have saved me BUCKS with your advice.
  • @NettersTX1
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have watched several videos and all they talked about was the direction of the fan blade. All I needed to know was if the button goes up or down during the summer. I will definitely be saving your video and sharing it with family. Again, thank you! And you get a big LIKE!
  • @Desmo1
Clockwise or Counter would be THE helpful way of explaining it. Not all fans have physical switches on the motor area, but rather a direction button on the remote.
