  • this happened to my sisters fur kid..She called our old time 77yr old country veterinarian and he said no time to bring him into clinic, must act fast> he told my sister to burn toast as black as you can in toaster (makes charcoal) and then mash up the black toast, add to tuna broth or something yummy and give to your dog asap. πŸ‘πŸ» it workedπŸ‘πŸ»

Activated charcoal is NOT ……NOT THE SAME AS your Charcoal for grilling….NOT THE SAME

Also, you are a blessing to animals and their guardians. Thank you
  • Our dog was poisoning herself by eating our heliotrope plant. We thought it was garden pests until we saw her eat it. Very lethargic, very dark circles under her eyes. We detoxified her with milk thistle. Took a couple of weeks. Don't have heliotrope in your garden.
  • The algorithm randomly recommended this to me but dang, now if I get a dog and it eats a toxic mushroom, I know what to do
  • Our Tractor supply store sells syringes, or your vet can give them to you to have at home.
  • Thanks doc ❀. As i am watching my stomach is in knots. We lost two of our beloved dogs to what we presume was agricultural chemical poisoning. It was so sudden. They came to us in a state of near collapse salivating goo. They were gone in minutes 😒. Here in rural Egypt farming area sometimes bad people put out old carcasses with chemicals. Maybe to kill wild dogs. Sometimes to deliberately target dogs they don't like. Its horrible 😭. We consulted a farm vetinarian who suggested atropine injection and it worked within ten minutes on another dog. One of my beloved pooches survived. She was nursing pups and loves fresh Buffalo milk. I had given her some shortly prior. I stayed up with her to the early hours in the barn where she lay on a pile of hay and she pulled through. Unfortunately around half of her pups died. So i live in anxiety about them eating stuff around here. I pray for their safety every day and make sure they have regular good food. However dogs love finding dead stuff as we know πŸ˜…. I will see if i can get some hydrogen peroxide and we have activated charcoal πŸ‘

Hi Dr. Jones. So good to see you today, and thanks for bringing us this important information on how to treat our dog of he or she eats something like that mushroom. I have a 10-month old Mini Pin and he loves to explore and try eating sticks, and some kind of black berry-looking things that fall from the trees here in Southern California. I try to keep him interested in chasing his ball and with searching out and eating treats. I launch the little treats in the air and they fall to the grass and then he goes around the yard trying to pick up the scent and then very quickly, his nose picks up the scent and he eats it right away. Have a wonderful day, Dr. Jones! πŸ•πŸ˜„πŸ‘πŸŽ‰
  • I had a dog est mushrooms once . I wish I'd known this back then.
  • @GVolker1108
Great video. I had a lab and she learned how to open our cabinets and the fridge so we had to put the baby locks on and that’s just the tip of the ice berg of what she got into. lol
  • How synchronistic that you made this video today, as I was just asking my AI assistant what was best to induce vomiting in dogs yesterday. And it confirmed that hydrogen peroxide 3% was the first line of defense and activated charcoal could be used as a secondary line of defense. The hardest part for me was getting my 45lb Aussie to take another 5ml syringe of hydrogen peroxide after he tasted the first one. πŸ˜… He also found an old tray of rodent poison at about 2am once. No idea how much he ate, if any. But better safe than sorry! So grateful that vitamin K is such an easy to obtain antidote, even at 2am when the vet is closed.
  • My daughter has a pug...she didnt have a dime to her name much less be able to afford an ER visit. He got into easter chocolate. milk chocolate as i know dark chocolate is even worse. Anyway i had her give the HP and he vomited right afterwards..then i had her give act charcoal. I wasn't quite sure of the dose for that but told her to give atleast 3 capsules. it took him a couple days to get back to completely normal but...after he vomited and everything, he was feeling much better. he DID vomit again the next morning but was ok otherwise. This is a great video....Thanks doc.
  • Thank you so much. This has saved my dog many times through the years.
  • The dry charcoal mixes with peanut butter.. it takes a little work but it does mix in eventually and I've never had a dog turn down peanut butter.
