Chicago Bulls were trailing by 98–94. Michael Jordan made a layup to cut the lead to 2 points, and Dan Majerle's 30-foot three-pointer fell short on the Suns' next possession. Although Westphal's sole instruction on the play was for none of the players to double-team any of the Bulls, Danny Ainge left John Paxson to try and either steal the ball or foul Horace Grant, who had missed all five of his shot attempts in the game and wasn't a good crunch-time free throw shooter. Grant saw Paxson alone 25 feet from the basket and fired a perfect pass, and Paxson then made a three pointer with 3.9 seconds left, giving the Bulls a 99–98 lead. Paxson's three-point field goal was the only score by any Bulls player other than Michael Jordan in the entire fourth quarter. The victory was secured by a last-second block from Grant on Kevin Johnson, thanks to Paxson's game-winning 3-point field goal.

All five players touched the ball on that play. Simply beautiful.

What a sequence: 1. Uncontested layup for Jordan 2. HORRIBLE shot from Majerle 3. Paxson WIDE OPEN 4. HUGE block by Grant on Johnson
  • It has been 30 years since the Chicago Bulls faced the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Finals.

I still remember being 8 years old at my grandpa's house watching the game in the living room. That block by Grant in the end is forever burned in my head.

The defense on the Jordan lay-up that cut it to two, was completely atrocious.

Oh wow I remember watching these Finals as a kid. Man we’re they some awesome times. I was a basketball junkie growing up.

I guarantee that Dan Marjele still has nightmares about air balling that shot...
  • MJ is simply the greatest winner in the modern basketball era it’s not even close

John Paxson winner and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer goal vs Bayern, surely 2 most dramatic sport event in the 90s ! Pax for three-peat, Ole for Treble

Damn, this video stressed me out back then....it stressed me out just from rewatcing it. The glory days 🏀

Horrible attempt at a steal by Sir Charles, that one lapse broke down the defense and allowed for Paxson to get a wide open look at a 3. The moment he caught the ball, everyone in the arena, Suns players and coaches included, knew he wasn’t about to miss. Thunder Dan with his hands on his head, says exactly what they were feeling at that exact moment…… #BallGame #Splash

I watched this game from our family's cabin at the south rim of the Grand Canyon. When Grant blocked that last shot I ran screaming from the cabin, celebrating like a madman. I'm quite sure everyone thought I had lost my mind LOL

Poor Chuck. Made it to the finals with a bunch of “literally-who?”s and they’re out here bricking, getting stuffed, airballing 12 footers, and letting MJ drive full court and lay it in… in an elimination game. Now he has to work his ass off hearing about his lack of rings from Shaq every damn night; while MJ golfs, smokes and drinks the days away.

Does anyone know the name of this song? I used to hear it all the time in these old highlight videos
