Sudan conflict at 100 days: Thousands killed, millions displaced

Published 2023-07-23
It has been 100 days since fighting first broke out in Sudan between the army and paramilitary Rapid Support forces.
Thousands have been killed and millions left displaced.
So far diplomatic mediation efforts have failed, an indication of the complexity of the conflict.

Al Jazeera’s Mohamed Vall reports from Port Sudan.

In the land of Sudan, a tragic tale unfolds, Where thirst and hunger for power take their tolls. Leaders, once noble, now corrupted by desire, Engage in civil war, setting the land on fire. Amidst the arid plains, where the rivers once flowed, Brother turns against brother, the bond erodes. Their hearts consumed by an insatiable thirst, For power and control, they forget the worst. Once united, they stood, hand in hand, But now division reigns across the land. Boundaries drawn with lines of hate, As innocent lives bear the brunt of their fate. Their hunger for dominance knows no bounds, With innocent blood spilling onto the grounds. Children weep, mothers cry, and fathers mourn, While leaders’ ambitions leave their nation torn. They wield their swords, fueled by greed, Leaving the populace to beg and plead. In this desolate landscape, hope is dim, As the thirst for power continues to brim. Oh, Sudan! Once rich in culture and grace, Now scars of conflict mar your beautiful face. The thirst for power has led you astray, In this dark chapter, how long will you sway? But let us not forget, there's strength in unity, To rise above this tempest, regain our dignity. For peace can bloom from the seeds of love, And heal the wounds, bestowed from above. Let the leaders heed this desperate plea, Lay down their arms, set their egos free. Embrace compassion, empathy, and care, For only then can Sudan truly repair. The thirst and hunger for power must be quelled, With compassion and understanding, we can weld A future bright, where peace does reign, And Sudan's spirit shall rise again.

It's funny that the Sudan war is not everywhere on the internet as Ukraine war

May Almighty ALLAH protect the Sudanese victims of this senseless civil war. Ameen.
  • Prigozhin's "Wagner Group" PMC has long had armed mercenaries both in Sudan and Chad, and of course West Darfur abuts into Chad and is just north of CAR -- another Wagner stronghold. I wonder what Wagner's been up to in Africa these past many months. or maybe, there's no need to wonder.

I suggest you fix this before you accuse any nation of wars. Archangel Michael

African everywhere we have no friends we just have each other unify. Sudan is an African country and will remain African no matter how much the Arabs try to Arabize it. This fighting and killing each other just like Rwandan genocide, liberia, Namibia, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Nigeria and now Sudan 2023 Masalit massacres. Heart breaking!!! Sudan needs to spilt into two more countries.
