It starts with a bench then some others and eventually you loose your workshop :P No, I'm kidding. I feel you man. It's so great to be able to share hobbies with our second half. Love it!

G'day mate, I think it's fantastic what Jamie and Tyler are doing. Your a good bloke for your support.
  • Haven’t watched a video of yours since back in the garage. Nice to see your still doing content.

Glad to hear Shawn is doing well. Sorry to hear he got out of the maker biz. I met you both in Skiatook, OK. Great video, Jay! Keep 'em coming!

Thanks Jay, very good information. I've been looking at buying the xTool p2 and this has helped greatly!

You did a very good review on this P2--thanks -remember run the laser at 80% or less to prolong the laser tube life , I use the start button to stop the machine to take a reading on the distance from laser tube tip to work surface, I bought the BOFA Advantage AD-350 filter,

I agree with easy access to E-Stops. I don’t think it’s too bad on the side especially if the operator is sitting there most of the time by laptop. But you are correct, a second one on top or front in case of an issue with a feed through issue. Really liking that P2 and want to get one, but still a bit more than what I’d spend.

I am so sorry to hear that your puppy passed.. my deepest condolences. 🙏🙏❤️❤️
  • Jay, on the ring for the chisel I believe you have to have a fiber laser. The engraving on the cups, the laser is removing the painted surface and not actually scoring the metal. We are not as far into the business aspect as your wife, but I’m sure my wife will take off running as soon as we have all our systems in place. I second you on that emergency stop, hope the company improves on their next version of this machine or better yet, make it so that all new machine orders have an improved E-stop feature. You explained everything very well!
  • I have a D1 Pro 20W laser with the air purifier you mentioned. I have found the purifier is great for inside, however, It fills up with particles very quickly and the replacement filters are not cheap. I have tried blowing out the pre-filter, which does help, but the bigger part of the filter must be replaced and can not be blown out. I'm working on getting set up to just discharge through a hose to the outside to save on all the filter costs. This will require an in-line fan as the fan on the cover for my D1 Pro is not very strong.

Fun to see the excitement your wife has. My daughter is the same. Miss Shawn - tell him hi for me Jay.

Something tells me there will be Mr & Mrs lasers soon . Nice explanation Jay.

Well said and a great video. I agree with the safety aspects and that recessed button... I am leary of. The muscle memory to activate that would not help me. Lots of other great features and information though.

I want to get a p2. But we're getting a cnc 1st. I think my wife will love that thing.
  • I have a Glowforge. I also have used larger Epilog lasers at the makerspace I worked at. I really like my Glowforge. This looks pretty cool. I haven’t seen one that can do the curved surface engraving. And some of the other things look pretty cool.. If I was to get a second smaller one I’d probably look into one of these.

My laser is on the way now, but ive had a CNC for 4ish years now. I LOVE my CNC. But the more I look into the laser stuff, I more I realized alot of the things Ive done on my CNC I could of done on a laser. And they might have come out better. Like Ive built alot of shop type things like a cordless tool holders with shelves with a hex pattern on the outside out of plywood. Im thinking im going to try building another on of the exact same thing and see if it takes me less machine time. But I do think using both the CNC and Lasers is the answer to really being able to make some really cool things. Well or just the router and laser

Great machine, but you're 100 % right when it comes to emergency shut off button. I think it's okay that it's on the side, but it should be on the front of the side not in the back.
