Gutka stains in public places and driving on the wrong side of the road are common examples of our lack of civic sense. In our country, lack of civic sense, or responsible behaviour in public spaces, is a serious problem that doesn't get the attention it deserves. But have you ever wondered why we behave this way? Is it in our culture, is it a systemic problem, or is it something else? In this video, I delve into the cultural, systemic and sociological reasons that contribute to our lack of civic sense, and what we need to do fix it. Because it matters much more than you think!

    We Indians: रोड पर हगना 💩ठीक है । रोड पर Hug 🤗 करना ग़लत है ।
  • The things is people are not ready to accept .Once I tried to stop someone from throwing garbage in public they just ignored and threw it
  • This country needs to absolutely ban gutkha, single handedly destroys the aesthetics of all the public places, which aren't that good to begin with

    1. Education 2. Re-education 3. Enforcement 4. Infrastructure
  • If we implement such things in school, parents would be the first one to protest saying " hum bacho ko padne bhejte hai ya saf safai karne".
  • ...And we Indians get mad when others call us dirty people...time to accept our problem and change
  • no matter how "Vishwaguru" we are .. But in reality we are living a uncivilised society,,, .. Badly needed this video

A friend of mine from Australia came to visit India. He visited several times and I felt ashamed when he directly said to me that people have no civics sense. Garbage thrown anywhere. People pissing and spitting gutka in the wall corners. He said every open place in India is a license to shit, spit and whatever you like. You people worship Ganges but when he went to Haridwar, he was astonished to see the condition of the river - full of filth and pollution. It's all true and a shame.

Now let me share my experience. I am a young Indian who is one of the very few who actually cares about civic sense but coming from a middle class family where the only person caring about civic laws is me, I'm forced to break these laws, against my conscience. I usually don't jump lines but there will be some relative who comes early and they will "book the spot" (at times, I'm the one who books) and everyone else will just go to that place but i absolutely loathe that cheap behaviour. When i raise my voice, i often get scolded at, so i just keep quiet. And regarding trash, whenever i eat candy, i ask someone nearby for the dustbin to put the wrapper. Almost always, the other person will be like "just throw it on the floor, no one cares". I'll search for a bin for some time and will throw it on the floor, because i don't find one. If i do find a bin, I'll pick up the wrapper i ate from floor and put it in the bin, and guess what everyone does, they stare at me like i did murder. I often watch youtubers from foreign countries and have contact with foreign people on discord. Almost always, I'll get lame remarks but I'll try to explain. It's like the image of our country among foreigners is very much spoilt. Tbh I dream to leave this country and lead a proper civic life one day. You know what everyone says, "You are a Self-Hating Indian who is thinking of only leaving this country", "Civic sense is not for Indians", and other such lame derogatory remarks. I would like to follow lane discipline too while driving but the roads being equally chaotic leads me to stress and I'll just give up all my boundaries, doing a "naagin dance" with my bike on the traffic. I am really frustrated. Replies welcome.
