LASIK eye surgery is commonly performed laser refractive surgery to correct vision problems. This 3d animation shows how laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (lasik) can be an alternative to glasses or contact lenses.

It’s one of many vision correction surgeries that work by reshaping your cornea, the clear front part of your eye, so that light focuses on the retina in the back of your eye.

In eyes with normal vision, the cornea bends (refracts) light precisely onto the retina at the back of the eye. But with nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia) or astigmatism, the light is bent incorrectly, resulting in blurred vision.

During LASIK surgery, a special type of cutting laser is used to precisely change the shape of the dome-shaped clear tissue at the front of your eyes (cornea) to improve vision.

Glasses or contact lenses can correct vision, but reshaping the cornea itself also will provide the necessary refraction.

Literally how far the modern technology has gone and how promising today's eye surgeries are I'm sure in near future there are gonna be even better and safer surgeries than today It's amazing
  • I recently went through lasik and believe me it's a blessing to mankind. There is zero pain, you will get vision right after surgery. I started wearing glasses only at an early age of 7 and I recently went through lasik at age of 24. I'm so so happy after it.

I did this operation 2 years ago for both eyes, and it took less than 15 min and was totally painless. I didn't feel any discomfort. My vision is good again ever since. I'm so glad to live in times when such medicine is available to simple people 👁️👁️👏

I had this done. I see better than I ever did with glasses. It was a good choice. The procedure itself doesn't hurt at all...make sure you take your pain pills when it's over though...good god

This happened to me once when I fell asleep first on a sleepover

I just don't get why such a good surgery like this one can't be covered by any insurance if it can help and change so many people's lives.

I've done Lasik about 3-4 days ago. I see crystal clear and Im too happy. There was no pain at all .The best money I've ever spent :D

I have sensitive eyes. I had this operation done in August 2022. The eye drops stung quite a bit for the first week. Make sure you have someone you trust to be there for you after the appointment to help with picking up prescription, help with transport and make sure you don't rub your eyes.

Just had this done today. The first two hours were extremely uncomfortable (felt like a severely scratched cornea and burned bad) but after the two hours it literally started feeling better and by evening my eyes felt fairly normal with great vision

it still hurts. my mom hates any kind of drug but after this she said there was no way to go through it without them.

I was with my then bf when he tried lasik in 2017. It was really great. At our first visit, they put something to his eyes that made him feel so uncomfortable and his eyes were watering this took for like 15-20 mins. The next few days he was scheduled for the surgery. Very fast surgery only like less than 30 mins then he was out of the room but he needs to wear sunglasses for one week. He is not allowed to look in the sun, or any light directly without glasses even at work he goes there wearing sunglasses. Good bye glasses he is now seeing crystal clear. Last time I msg him he is still ok 4 yrs after the surgery. We were at LASIK eye clinic in Dubai,UAE

22 years later, and I'm still good! Was one of the first ones to get it done, apparently...

I had this surgery 3 years ago. Life changing surgery as I see crystal clear now 👍

@SasukeIsPwnage You don't need to blink because we put lubricating drops in your eye so they dont dry out. Your natural reflex to blink goes away after the local anaesthetic because it numbs the eye. If you're claustrophobic or really concerned, you can also have a sedative and will probably sleep through the whole thing anyway!

I don't want to scare you guys but please read this carefully. A friend of mine had this surgery in 2019, and everything was perfect. The surgery went well, he got 6/6 vision and was very happy. After 5 days, his left eye hurt as if someone was pouring hot liquid straight into his eyes. He rushed to the doctor immediately and thankfully, he's alright now. I know that 99% of the people don't have any problem, but this one case really scared the hell outta me and I decided NOT to get the surgery.

I can’t even touch my eyes to use contacts but I need this surgery. Just to be able to wake up and not have to put on glasses or go put in contacts must be amazing
  • @santoshed
I had very thick glasses. Got Lasik done 12years back. Since then I have been having a perfect vision.
