Hello. I was one of the animators on the film "Iron Giant". Hard to believe that it's been over 20 years since it's release. We who worked on the film are always so glad to see that so many people have found this film and have embraced it so close in their hearts. Believe me when I say that it really was one of the most wonderful things to work on. A truly magical time with an incredible crew. Anyway! Thanks again for all the wonderful responses...and I hope this finds you all safe and healthy out there. All the very best to you all! :)

Nostalgia Critic: The Iron Giant Me: Choose your next words... carefully.

"WHERE'S THE GIANT MANSLEY!?" one of the best lines in the whole movie.
  • @davidstone281
Favorite line in the movie "Hey!" "Yeah?" "You're right in the middle of the road!" "YEAH?!" ".....alright." (drives off) Lmao everytime
  • @plucas1
Kids cried at the "Don't follow" bit. Men cried at "Soooo-per-man..."
  • I always liked the general wasnt one dimensional, he cared about his men, sceptical and knew atomic weapons weren’t some plaything.
  • @demonbushido
I'm 34 and I still cry at two lines: "You don't have to be a gun!" "SUUUPERMAN!"
  • The sense I've always got from Dean's character was that he was doing the "cool adult so the kid doesn't go do the thing he's going to do anyways but without adult supervision". Like, he was worried the Giant was dangerous the whole time but knew he couldn't stop Hoggarth from hanging out with him, so he supervised the hanging out instead.

I love how the war general in the movie is actually reasonable 😂, and it's the guy in the suit who's a total spaz. It's a nice role reversal.
  • @ShePudding
“You stay. I go. No following.” Still can’t help but get a tad chocked up.

It is obvious that Hogarth's dad was a fighter pilot and probably died in the Korean war. I wish the would have paid a little more attention to that.
  • A little disappointed that he didn’t pause to point out when mansley’s face was smashed into the door
  • @JudgementNutter
To be fair to Vin Diesel's Groot, he did voice the character in EVERY LANGUAGE.
  • @Kaemonarch
"You are who you choose to be." "Superman..." Instert
  • I was excited to show this to my wife, who had never seen it. Her reaction? With tears streaming down her face, "That was so beautiful! NEVER SHOW IT TO ME AGAIN!"
  • I disagree with the deleted scene thing. While it would have explained Dean’s outburst more, it would have also kinda ruined both the mystery of the giant (as in what his true purpose is), and would make the ending where he goes ballistic feel less narratively satisfying because we’d be able to call it earlier.
  • Fun fact: there were other deleted scenes of Dean and Annie talking and growing closer, even one where he tries to apologize for the squirrel incident, but they were cut for time.
  • @MeansofIntrigue
I always took Dean's decision not to report the Giant immediately, and his relaxed attitude overall, as symptomatic of his anticonformist personality and the beatnik subculture he was clearly subscribed to. "Don't worry kid. Look, it's not my style to report a guy to the authorities"
  • @MrSadisticLlama
As someone who grew up watching this movie, I am honestly happy to know that this won't be be remade or tarnished by Hollywood. As the old saying goes, "Don't fix what ain't broke."
