Hi folks,

since 1 April 2002 all civil operations of these Russian build Ilyushin IL-76 airplanes with the old Soloviev D-30 engines are banned in the EU region due to noise regulations. Some exceptions remain for humanitarian aid or presidential / military flights.

In other words seeing or in this case hearing this kind of airplane is for the Brussels Airport community an absolute rare event.

In 2021-22 several talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan where held at Brussels with Charles Michel, president of the European council, about the Nagorno - Karabakh conflict, and each time the Azeri's came with some big equipment carrying their president with an A340-600 and an IL-76 for his car. As the conflict is now over, the chances to see an IL-76 with old engines @ BRU are almost zero.

Therefore this footage was composed on one of the last visits of this amazing Russian metal bird. It was recorded with my Canon 7D, so only standard quality as my new Sony gear was still on the bucket list, but due to the rareness I thought it was still a good reason to upload this one as a historical moment.

Footage is composed on two different days of the same airframe 4K-AZ41 whereby all three runways were used giving a nice perspective.

More aviation related stuff filmed in 4K and solely taken at Brussels Airport spotted from the ATC building at Steenokkerzeel will be uploaded on a regular base as hundreds of items are waiting to get analyzed, post processed and compiled to show it online someday.

Some of my older footage prior 2024 will remain for the time being online although filming quality at that era was not that great. But it gives an idea of some movements @ Brussels Airport throughout the years when I was there.

Any feedback in the comment section is most welcomed.
