TRIAL KEY USES In Minecraft 1.21?!

The skull on the key looks closest to the skulls on the trial spawner, and based on how common the keys are, they’ll probably be used to skip the cooldown on the trial spawner

I think the straight forward answer is that the trial key is mojang’s answer to player-side loot
The key will be used to unlock a special kind of chest that generates loot (once) for every player that unlocks it with a key
Since trial chambers focus on replayability, it makes sense for new players that fight reset trial spawners to get their share of loot too

The key looks less like sculk than the skull image on the spawners,
So my guess is:
Could open a door to somewhere, maybe to prevent cheating it is like that space station thing that all builds out from the april fools update, so before you open the door you can dig around, try to cheat, and find nothing, until you use the key and it creates and entire new room, or maybe this could happen with the whole structure starting as just the corridor or tree room, so to unlock new areas in the chambers you need to loot chests and take on the challenges, maybe multiple times if you can’t get one,
which would be awesome in my opinion but probably very hard to code.

I think the key may be an item used for unlocking secret rooms in the trial chambers! Maybe a treasure room, or a room that has the items needed for a new portal!

I had theories but knowing how common it is now, I'm not sure. 😅 Right now I think resetting the cooldown only on the spawner is the best theory.

It would be cool if the key is used in the redstone rooms under the ancien city and has some implications of the portal cough cough reinforced deepslate.

I think the key is a great opportunity for new dimensions.

My theory is the trial key will work the same way it does in the Twilight Forest mod with the Ur-Ghast fortress. Basically, throughout the structure, there are large 3x3 doors where if you click on any of the 9 blocks that the door is made up of, the blocks will disappear and allow you to enter into a new area. However, there are special doors that need keys for you to unlock them. Maybe? Whatever direction this feature heads, I cannot wait to find out what's in store for us! I guess we'll find out tomorrow...

Ideas that I'd like to see:
1. You put a key in every single trial spawner to activate a new boss fight
2. Over the next few updates, they'll add a bunch of new structures of a similar difficulty to the trial chamber, maybe one in an Ocean++ update, one in an End+ update, Nether++ update, one in a Desert+/Jungle+/Savanna+ update, etc., and you get a unique key from all of these structures and you have to bring them all together into some sort of portal to unlock the true final dimension

The trial key is so common right now that there's no way it's used for something big, unless it's made much rarer.

It probably will be used for opening a new type of chest with special loot like new armor trims, new disc or sumthin that’s what I think

I think the key will probably be used to unlock some of the chests, since internally they're labeled as "reward" chests

Why a new dimension? I don't get the leap how a dungeon of copper with a key so common in it could possibly lead to a new dimension especially something in the ancient city like others have said this is definitely gonna be used to open doors, chests, and other such loot

I think the stone chests in the ancient city is the most likely possibility

The trial key unlocks a block called the trial vault. It contains a random item (like having an item in a cage). Only with that key, can you open the "vault" up and the item rotating inside of it, will pop out.

It would make sense that the boss mob would exist here because there needs to be something casting mining fatigue on players in the area, otherwise it can be super cheesed

The problem with the key is that unless it opens a room with unbreakable blocks it won't be of a lot of use.
