Fair fucks to Villa like. It was like we were playing ourselves (Newcastle) on our best days on Saturday. Didn't let us doing anything, anywhere. In all honesty I'll be absolutely delighted if this season finishes with Newcastle, Villa, and Brighton in any order in the top six in place of Spurs, Chelsea, and Liverpool. Just a perfectly healthy and much-needed shake-up.
-
Iām delighted for Emery. Bloke was unfairly mocked endlessly, even by sections of the media, during his time at Arsenal, but he is a serious coach. Won the Europa League three seasons running, took Villareal to a CL semi-final, and has now taken Villa from 17th to 6th in the space of half a season.
-
Shows what pundits know. We were terrible under Gerrard. Truly awful
-
Up the Villa! The Villa fans are staying humble, we've had a tough few years but equally enjoying and soaking up the success and seeing where this season takes us.
-
Why nobody in the British media talks about how bad Steven Gerrard was
-
If villa get top 6 and arsenal donāt win the league emery should get manager of the season
-
They battered us no one has done that to us this season. Fair play.
-
The forgotten man of this team is Konsa. He's improved so much, has a great understanding with Mings and just gets the job done. But for Watkins, would've been motm on saturday.
-
The media at last waking up to what us Villa fans have been witnessing for months, Emery has worked miracles at the club and the fans love him UTV
-
Gerrard is not a good young manager
-
"Good young manager that hit a bad patch" ššš he was absolutely dreadful he somehow made us worse
-
Calm down guys.. we're playing well and getting some great results.. but lets not get too silly. just keep supporting the lads and lets see where we end up at the end of the season.. ..from a 62 year old pessimistic Life long Villa fan..
-
Emery was just ahead of the curve with his tactics. Playing from the back and creating artificial transition through bait and switch is what Di Zerbi Ten Hag and Guardiola doing now. Give this man his flowers.
-
The strength of Unai Emery at our club is that he doesn't just have one effective way of coaching and playing the game tactically, he's able to put out tactics designed entirely around the opponent to defeat them, I believe our limits with him as manager are simply the intelligence and adapatability and ability of the players, the fact we've turned things around in the middle of a season, without a pre-season and without ''manager signings'' tells me that this squad is very adaptable and intelligent and we're now finally seeing the results of the last few months of coaching. Now we've got to this point I expect Unai to pull out every trick in the book (perhaps ahead of schedule) to get us in the Top 6. I say ahead of schedule because playing like we did against Newcastle tactically was a one-off, we've never played like that before which in my eyes indicates that Unai played a card up his sleeve so it's one less card for next season when it comes to battling Top 6 teams for points. I strongly believe he has more cards up his sleeve though and that he will use them in every game now until the end of the season in a cup-final strategic way to win us most of these six pointer games, I can see us finishing 6-7th as I believe Liverpool's fixtures are too easy to defy anything but a win streak (5th) and with Brighton having 2 games in hand and only being 1 point behind, I can see them taking 6th, which leaves us fighting for 7th. I think Tottenham and Brentford will fall away.
-
Typical response from the British sports media in somehow contriving to comment on Villa's incredible run of form in a manner that predictably ducked any acknowledgement of the utterly abysmal job Steven Gerrard had previously done.
-
Steven Gerrard is not a good young manager that hit a bad patch. His entire stint at the club was a bad patch.
-
why pundits still think gerreard is a good manager is šššššššš
-
It was obvious that the team was better than Steven Gerrard was getting but I don;t think most of us villa fans would have seen this coming.
-
Why are the media unable to bring themselves to criticise Gerrard?... Good manager?!? Not even a good coach (delegated all that to Beale!)...... Squeaked by at Rangers, given the opportunity of a big job, and flopped before the first hurdle
-
What Watkins injury issues is Saunders on about here? The guy is never injured hahaha
