A little late now, but a good tip is to smear a bit of permatex on the ends of the cam pin to prevent oil seepage.  There really is no seal or anything around the ends of the pin and they can weep oil over time.  I'm a little worried about that governor shaft too, I think you should have replaced it or welded the paddle to the shaft.  On our JD forum there have been numerous members that have done that with no issues.  Love the videos, great work!

Is that Saturn's hero's at the beginning ready to rob the German bank? lol Great job.  I picked up a bunch of NOS parts for that Kohler at an auction. Someone got a great deal on the connecting rod on ebay. Still have a bunch of ring sets, not 30 over though.
  • I just sent both valves to the place in Conneaut, OH to be rebuilt. Only $65 for both. It's about 1 hour from me.

  • I have a 127. I ran it for 3 years, then I replaced the filter/fluid/rear seal. It ran for a bit, then the hydro quit working. You could sit there in full forward and it would eventually creep forward, then stop. Any ideas? I have the deck, rear tin, and engine removed right now. I am trying to get it going, and kind of fix things and tighten things up as I go. I do not have all of the tools and equipment as you do, but I should be able to freshen it up. I am just clueless on a hydro trans and they want over $2,000 to rebuild one around here.

Great job.. and good video editing!  It is interesting to watch someone rebuild a kohler engine.  I have one that I need to tackle too and all this stuff is like learn as you go.  Keep us posted on the progress.
