I have a Raspberry Pi running RetroPie connected to my TV. I play old console games with my 13-year old daughter. I bought two USB official Sega Genesis controllers and we play Mortal Kombat II together. A 30+ year old game I played with I was young. Now she beats me almost every time and she says it's her favourite game. It's awesome.

Imagine taking this little piece of hardware back in time and showing all those console gamers what they will be able to do in the future on ONE device
  • @Rand00mThing
I really liked this video. Thank you so much for not only teaching us how to create this makeshift retro gaming console but also for showing us how to preserve old classics. 🙏

I like that RetroAchievements shows indicators in the bottom right corner of Achievements that you can get in the level. For instance in Zelda LttP, when you are fighting Moldorm in the Tower of Hera, it shows 2 possible achievements, no damage and kill Moldorm in under 20 seconds. If you don't defeat Moldorm quickly or get hit, the indicators vanish, letting you know that you can't get them.
  • I just built 2 of these last week -- The bonus configuration options were super helpful!

I love Alex as he is soeaking at the speed of light and the screen chsnging every 2 seconds. Keep em coming Alex

been building these since 2016 and i got my first pie, Love when others figure this out and build their first. so much fun, now i am going to set up netplay and send a pi to my friend and were going to play some Mortal Kombat 2
  • I love RetroPi. I set mine up so the ROMs folder is symbolicly linked to a folder on my NAS. This way it gets backed up. I have way more storage space there and if I need to add a ROM or set up a new Pi, it's easy. I just install my custom image and everything is there.
  • @jacobaltaras273
Great video! I already had a Retro Pie setup, but I learned a couple new things from this video. Definitely gonna set up achievements!
  • @OCDRex11
I've been working with Pi's since 2015. I have about 20 of them in almost every form and then some. I mainly use them for RetroPie. I have built images, downloaded images, and there really isn't anything new to them in terms of RetroPie. But, this video almost made them feel new to me after watching. I have never done the achievements and just might try that out. I also think it time that I generate a new image from scratch as those are the most fun. You guys really make it seem easy, and it actually is. There are a ton of areas to get into the weeds quickly though. But, you stayed away from that. Great video for a first timer who knows nothing about RetroPie and the Raspberry Pi!
  • I built an Old Dell OptiPlex 3020 with Bactocera which is very similar to this and my 4-year-old loves to play the older games with me. It's became very fun configuring it to the way you want I think I have spent over 20 hours setting this up It's great to get it set to how you want, so then it makes it easier to copy the setup for another computer.
  • @Hohenheim23
so cool. makes me wanna set up for my brothers and myself to play like back in the day
  • It’s nice to do this if you have a spare pi hanging about but you can get way more performance from mini pc’s these days and little uplift in price
