Welcome to another episode of Trailmakers! Today we are building hover torpedos that can travel from land, across water, and back on land again to hit a target at long range.

About Trailmakers:

In the toughest motoring expedition in the universe, you and your friends will build your own vehicles to cross a dangerous wasteland. Explore, crash horribly, use your wits to build a better rig, and get as far as you can with whatever spare parts you find on your way.

Welcome to the Ultimate Expedition!

Journey over grueling mountains, hazardous swamps, and bone-dry deserts on a distant world far from civilization - it is just you, your fellow adventurers and the amazing, jet-powered hover-buggy you built yourself. Explore, crash your vehicle, build a better one, and get as far as you can with whatever spare parts you find along your way.

Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.

Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.

Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.

Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

Please bring back the classic multiplayer evolution races, maybe it works with fighting each other, not just racing
  • The take from this video and the previous one on missile launches is that the terrain plays a huge part in determining the path of the projectile. You should look at creating a launcher than can gimbal/level itself at a set altitude for vertical launches. Horizontal like this one would be a bit trickier as the missile itself will then follow contours.

Imagine you "Accidentally" Converted Yzuei to Scrap Mechanic and created a survival playthrough with him..

i think the reason that the torpedos were turning even though they were symmetrical is because they were hover torpedos that lacks friction so when you launch them on a slanted terrain it goes to the angle of the slant which makes it turn so the solution is to launch it as close as possible to the water. you can confirm my theory by trying the torpedo on the test zone map.
  • @SteffedPepper
Stationary missile/mortar content is always so satisfying and fun.
  • @Dzamin_1
I like this style of battle, it's like playing Shellshock live
  • @shadow-me
Idea: 3 very tiny kamikaze drones vs an anti-air turret. You would have to shoot down the drones before they explode
  • @fradornkledop
I like this kind of torpedo/ missile battles. Maybe yall can try one where it is semi similair to the cluster bombs, with having to dial in the distance and launch angle and all that. But have the missiles have limited controls, so you are able to do a bit of precise targeting, and you start on very different parts of the map from each other, and with no hud or anything so you cant see exactly where the other is. Then during the battle you'd have to first figure the general area your opponent is in by trying to see where their missile is launching from, and once you get a general area you can send a missile over and try and take out their launcher. So the missiles end up being like a mix between the cluster bombs, and the guided missiles from the multiplayer air battles.
  • You should do battles with a heavy defense vs heavy offense build. Or an OP Vs Not so Weaksauce attackers.
  • @KaneyoriHK
Makes the people who calculate the angles of mortar fire and artillery fire more impressive
  • Suggestion: Since you are better trailmaker than the other guys, let profesor run a server so that you have a delay instead of him. I think this will make it more difficult for you to dominate in every trailmakers multiplayer video.

Everyone please stop with the "day x of asking for x" format. Scrapman has a discord set up with a section just for recommendations. You are wasting your time posting here instead of somewhere he regularly looks specifically with the intention of finding video suggestions.
  • It would be awesome to see the same type of video but with battleships using an artillery style shot. The open waters with random terrain could lead to some wicked skill shots
  • @Hadeks_Marow
I want nothing more than for Yzuei to get a better segue: "Have [participants] finished building?" despite the only reason why they regroup is because they already confirmed in advanced. So the question isn't for them because they already know the answer. . . and it's not for us either cause like, we watched them build it. So it's a question asked for no one and that. . . I know it's petty and insignificant, but it just bothers me every time he does it.
  • @Tauramehtar
Almost more RNG than skill, but still fun to watch) Edit: Might be a fun solo challenge, Scrap, to test the trajectory variance against stationary targets. Maybe just something that pierces and doesnt explode so you can clearly see the mark.
  • Honestly I'd love to see you guys redesign your builds and undertake this challenge again knowing what you know now. Maybe have it be in space so it's slightly different.
  • @WynterLegend
I would like to see a Stranded in Space map challenge where you need to recover all the Logic Scraps on the floating island at once.
  • Idea: a plane battle were the planes have to touch the ground to gain trust but it can't fire when it's touching the ground
