I can confirm that lost one’s are called lost ones. If you replay chapter 5, pay attention to Alison’s line before the searcher fight. She says: “ the lost ones made this place. Sammy was keeping them at bay.”

10:45 What if that's why they're they way they are when the ink brings them to life? What if Joey was screwing with the ink, made these and thought "Huh, let's put you in the actual cartoons" Reverse-engineering them into the cartoon-y versions and then going with that. If they were brought to life without a blueprint, it would make sense that they're so messed up, right? Granted, that begs the question, where did they come from?
