[Time-Lapse Art] Splatoon Avatar Commission

Published 2021-02-19
While working on the previous commission I received another commission to make Splatoon Inkling based on someone's son for his birthday. Apparently he plays a sniper (charger? I only know a tiny bit about Splatoon having only played the tutorial and 10 minutes of the single player campaign.) The customer seemed happy, and I even got a compliment from the print shop she sent it to, so that's always a plus!

Tried something a little different since this wasn't a horizontal image and added a close up of the areas where I was working to fill the space.

Music:
Don't Slip (Midi Piano Arrangement by Olimar12345)
Toru Minegishi
Splatoon 2

Ink Me Up (Midi Piano Arrangement by Olimar12345)
Shiho Fujii
Splatoon

Both songs were recorded using the SGM-v2.01.sf2 sound font and a TAL-Reverb 2 plug-in via Synthfont.

😄😄😄👍👍👍 That made me chuckle right out loud. I'm only vaguely familiar with Splatoon myself... I don't even think I was aware there was a single player campaign... It always struck me as though it would be a game kind of like Halo, where the appeal would be getting plugged into a room, assigned a team, and blast away at the enemy. But then I thought more, and I guess you forget that Halo had a single player campaign too. I guess I find it easy to forget that, since that's never the way I played it. It was always me and my group of friends vs. someone else and their group of friends, and that's how we all liked it. I guess I thought of splatoon the same way. But I loved the look of the game. It looks like it would be action aplenty, with all the run around, shoot 'em up and strategy of a game like Halo... But family friendly. It had kind of a cuteness and quirkiness to it that I found really appealing. Great work as always, friend. Al.ost makes me wish we could see a photo of the subject. I understand the privacy concerns regarding that. But your artwork is fantastic, as always... And the reference to Splatoon gave me a good chortle. Although I never played it myself and just enjoy watching the gameplay, the concept always struck me as really fun. I'm glad the game has a following. It strikes me as deserving it. Keep up the awesome work! It's a pleasure watching your visions come to life.
