Closed terrarium with live plants: what you need to know before you start.

Published 2022-12-18
Before I began my first closed terrarium, I did a tremendous amount of research. I visited numerous nurseries, gathered information, read blogs, watched videos and spent many hours gathering items before starting this project because I wanted the best outcome. The more questions I asked, the more I realized that making a closed terrarium is an art and science for it to live beyond your initial creation. I've created this video with a beginner's mind, helping you understand everything you need to know as you make your own beautiful closed terrarium for yourself or to give as a gift to someone else.

If you're not into plants and want to use the available beautiful vessels, I've got two other videos that you might want to check out.
Part 2 Forrest Floor    • How to make a closed terrarium - no p...
Closed Vessels ideas    • How to use Terrariums with no plants ...
They show you how to use closed vessels to create your own ‘forest floor’ theme or use them with lights and other objects.

I answer many of the questions you need to know (see below).

You'll be pleased to know that the terrarium is doing outstanding three years after the post-creation of this video (video created in 2019 and uploaded in 2022). But don't take my word for it; I'll show you in the video what it looks like at the very end.

I like the idea of using a coffee filter to prevent the soil from moving into the gravel. Great tip. I loved this project! It is really pretty. Great job.
