My Dad always said the five holes were from how many bullets it took to shoot the rat.

For some reason those mutton chops are the only credentials I need from a burger scholar
  • ”I thought we were having white castle sliders” ”Oh, no i said steamed hams!”
  • @chronorigin
As a former White Castle employee, this is mostly correct. However the sauce is called "everything sauce" and is a combination of ketchup, mustard, and pickle juice.

Moment of silence to every white castle employee that burns themselves, screams "ohh oww thats hot", and sets off the fire alarm every time they make a burger.
  • I love how he wasn't cussing when he burned himself but when the fire alarm gone off he actually cussed
  • @x8ah
i legit stood up thinking my fire alarm was going off 😂 🤦‍♂️
  • @bloxyoyo
Oh, so they WERENT lying to me when they said "we cant do no onions theyre grilled in onions"
  • @prodbypoker
You know you cooked when the fire alarm goes off

The holes are also an ingenious way of saving money because after you do about 10 of those you've got enough meat to make another patty.

Been making these for years! My friends usually love it when i make them. I usually partially freeze the burgers after i shape them to make the hole process more consistent and then season them with salt, pepper and dehydrated granulated garlic. Then the process is exactly the same as you showed here. I usually also make a royal sauce to go on them and add 2 pickles, but they're great as is too! Thanks for sharing the love of making them at home with the rest of the world!
  • I worked at White Castle in the 1980s. Made those little treasures. Yes, the buns are hot when you flip them up and into the box. No mustard ever! Only a pickle. Also, salt before cooking. The burger are frozen pre made now.

White Castle was my first job. I always came home smelling like onions and my mom wouldn't let me bring my work shoes into the house. It was awful. Also, this is 100% accurate and he did a good job of replicating the process...except we didn't put the mustard on.
  • "Superintendent, I hope you're ready for some mouthwatering hamburgers."
  • I had White Castle when I went back home to Ohio a few years ago and my stomach wasn’t right for a few months after 😩. Worth it. Delicious.
