    I’m surprised Columbine didn’t get a mention.
  • @onlinedevil1432
There are other notable events that should have been on this list e.g. the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Rwanda genocide, the murders of both Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. and the Columbine School Massacre.

I still feel sad that Princess Diana Died from that Car Crash... It was still a Tragic Event that still gives me a Heartache...😢
  • Why do I think the 90's were only ten years ago? Appreciated this list.
  • My family was watching Ayrton's last race while throwing my older brother's 3rd birthday party. Mom told me everybody was so gobsmacked by that tragedy no one could even think of singing "Happy Birthday"...

Here is a few more I can name: In February 1996 a British Airways Concorde broke the world record for the fastest transatlantic flight when it reached London from NY in only 2 hours, 52 mins & 59 secs, a record for supersonic flight. In 1999 Manchester Utd after beating Bayern Munich in the CL final became the first English side to win the triple namely the Premier League, FA Cup and CL. This cemented Alex Ferguson as the greatest manager in Man Utd's history as well as British football. In 1991 Freddy Mercury one of the best singers of his generation died. In 1993 a toddler called James Bulger was kidnapped & murdered by 2 boys 8 years his senior (Jon Venables & Robert Thompson) in Liverpool in the most infamous murder case of the 20th century in Britain. In 1996 Scotland witnessed it's most horrific massacre with the infamous Dunblane shootings which Andy Murray famously survived. In 1991 Bangladesh suffered it's most deadliest moonson disaster when 135,000 people were killed. Also in 1991 was the eruption of Mount Pinatubo one of the most deadliest eruptions in history.

30 Years on & Ayrton Senna's Death (as well as Roland Ratzenberger's) Still Hurt, R.I.P. to 2 great F1 Drivers!😢

Princess DIana. It was around two in the morning where I was, and about to go to bed, when a crawler on top of the TV screen said that she'd been in a car accident, and that was all it said. I thought it wasn't serious because of that brief description, turned off my TV and went to bed. When I woke up at like 10 in the morning, and turned on my TV again as I've always done, there it was, breaking news live broadcast: Princess Diana had died, with the how and why, and the brutality of it. And it was so shocking.

The death of princess Diana still shocked me. I was 5 years old at that time and i Saw my mom watching Diana's funeral and after that She is start crying, i ask my mom why does She was crying on the person on that tv and my mom start tell me a story about Princess Diana, at first i don't understand why since i was a kid but my mom tells me that once i got older, i will understand why. And past forward 12 years later after her death, my history teacher at senior high school give me and other students a home work of doing research about a several historical figures and Princess Diana was one of those so, i did some little digging and asking my mom again about her, not to mention mom helped me a lot in my homework, and after that i starting to understand why Princess Diana death was mourned by so many back then as it turns out that She was actually beloved by so many and it hits me so hard that make me speechless as i learned more about it.

This got posted exactly at the same time as Netflix posted a teaser for a series about Ayrton Senna.
  • I remember sitting in the living room at 9 years old watching the San Marino Grand Prix when Senna crashed this day 30 years ago. I was inconsolable.
  • As a wrestling fan, I would have to include the tragic and preventable death of Owen Hart at Over the Edge 1999 in Kansas City Missouri.
  • @maxmazzotti6651
30 years later and Senna’s death still hurts. Gone, but not forgotten.
  • @TheLockbeard
As an Australian I would have had the Port Arthur massacre on that list for being the worst mass shooting at that time.
  • Princess Diana's passing will always be heartbreaking. 😢🎉
  • @RoseGma
I remember where I was during most of these events, except maybe the Formula 1 crash. From your list, I think the Oklahoma City bombing hit me the hardest. But one event that was not on your list is the April 20, 1999 Columbine shooting. That would have been my number 1.

Watchmojo, the "world" isn't the US. The top 3 weren't that big of a deal for the rest of the world.
